Hi there,

Is there anyone who have succesfully flown the Private Pilot Checkride in FS2002? I've read the groundschool, but i'm not able to succesfully fly this checkride. I've tried it almost ten times, but each time it goes wrong Roll Eyes, so I'm searching for someone who flown it succesfully.

I passed it...after about 100 tries!!!!
No, I'm not exagerating either.  I can do the steep turn perfectly now and it took me ages to get the landing right...no sorry, I mean it took ages for the beast  of an examiner to pass me on the landing, cos I'm still sure I didn't do anything different that time I passed. Angry

Here's a link to a place with guides for the checkrides: http://members.chello.at/matthias.holzer/licence-e.htm

Or, you could cheat and steal the certificate folder from the UIRES folder and put ypu're name on it with M$ Paint Wink Wink...shame I didn't discover that until I passed... Sad

Tried it 3 times:

1. Tried it cold w/o taking lessons, instructor terminated it after steep turns not correct bank.

2. On way back to airport, no more instructions or prompts, but landed. (Went back to lessons but couldn't figure out what they saw wrong.)

3. Tried it again, trying to enter pattern correctly (prompts stopped long time ago.)  Landed thinking another failure.  Then when turned off runway, the certificate popped up.

You may be passing it and not know it, the game seems to want the student to exit the runway to complete the flight.

You don't need to exit the runway to complete it, as soon as you come to a stop, if you've done everything correct, you will pass.

Watch that steep turn, keep your airspeed up and altitude even.

Read the tutorial, you will not get any more instructions when you turn downwind, they assume you know where and when to turn base, then final.

Keep trying though, you'll get it. Amazingly enough - once you pass, go back and try again, I bet you'll get it every go.

I'm actually quite upset, cause I have tried the checkride exactly 48 times!!!!!!!  I am definately starting  to feel quite embarrised since lots of flight simmers keep passing it!  You know I have almost given up, cause it is so damn irritating the way the instructor fails me everytime on the steep turn.  I could of sworn that I have made a perfect steep turn about 10 bloody times, I have stayed within 100 feet and within 5 knots.  I have printed and practically studied the tips on how to pass at least 100 times.  I honestly don't have a clue what to do now cause I am continuesly failing.  And I'm definately not going to cheat by taking the PPL certificate and printing my name on it!!!!!!!!!

If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough.

We'll your not alone.  Many of us have been through this "steep turn" nightmare.  I must of tried this about 40 + times before I hit the turn and then landed.  Keep trying.  : Sad       Please disregard Whitey's "cheat notes"

What's the bank angle you make? It must namely be 45 degrees. I hope it will help.

Robin, Though I am no longer current I actually passed a check ride in the real world.  My check pilot was a famous old crop duster pilot.  He had the reputation of being the toughest check pilot in the Napa valley. Mike Jose was his name.

All I can say that the "check ride" in flight sim 2002 had little resemblance to mine.

Frankly, though I love many aspects of FS 2002 I think the check ride is a f###ing joke.  For example the "check pilot" says that she will provide feedback, she never does.  By the way technicially a 360 is once around back to your original heading. The check pilot will let you fly 360's all day and until you roll out she doesn't say a damn thing.

I emailed Marchickio or what ever that irrisponsible jerk of a CFI who allows his name is to be attached to this bad joke. No response.  Usually I'm getting valuable info from him about what the outer marker is when I'm on short final. What a joke.

Am I wrong? Are there any CFI's out there who would like to reply?

Though I'll post this elsewhere also.  Does anybody get glideslope and marker beacon lights when on the ILS. I only get the localizer.  Also a bad joke. Angry

I once flew with Mike Jose, as I also have one arm.  He gave me some good tips.  I have a friend who is trying to locate him.  Any suggestions?
