Hey Sim Pilots , i've got a Questino' ??

1st I have FSX Gold/ Acceleration.

I use 2 screens,,,

whenever I'd like to move the GPS over to the other screen,, it gets there then goes totally black,, the GPS does.

Now NOT all my GPS screens do this with other Aircraft,, they work fine when I move them over there.

I just have a few Aircraft that this happens with,, and I have NO Idea Why ???

I'm thinking it has something to do with the GPS File, within the Aircraft Panel,, maybe possibly in the wrong format maybe ???

So,, any of you Experienced Sim Pilots out there have any Grand Ideas, you could Enlighten me on, why this happens and what I need to look for and change to keep it from happening !!!  Shocked

Wish I could help, I only use one screen (to poor right now to do split screens).  Does sound like an issue with the aircraft.cfg file, but I'm not sure.  Your best bet is to list the aircraft you are having the problem with, I'm sure there is someone out there that has had the same problem with said aircraft and may have a solution for them.

check that the resolution of the '2nd' screen is set to one that FSX can use.
In 'windowed' mode fsx uses the resolutions you can set via desktop properties or via personalise in win7. (control panel/display)

May the Mynd be with you.
So far my number of landings either passenger or pilot equal my number of takeoffs, but that is due to change Smiley

This is just a WAG
(Wild Ass Guess)
from a long time ago when I had a similar problem. Go to OPTIONS>SETTINGS>DISPLAY and uncheck "Preview DirectX 10".

The other thing that might have fixed my problem was a video card driver update.

All of the was back when I was just learning how to use FSX. There was so much to learn at the time that I can't recall the actual solution.

Are you using an Eyefinity video card?

NOPE, don't use Infinity video card, I have XFX 6950 Graphics card.

The Problem is NOT with all the Aircrafts GPS Screens,, only a select few,,, the rest are fine !!

I don't fly with the DX10 checked in the Box either,,,,, know all about that,,,,

Only a select few aircraft gimme this problem of the GPS NOT showing up, upon switching the GPS Window, from 1 computer screen to another,,,

the others Payware and Freeware all work just fine & dandy.

I'm prone to think its the format the GPS window is saved in,, I'll have to investigate further using my DXT Bit Map Converter and see what it says,,, as to the file format ,,,

Dunno' thought it might be a simple fix,, and it might be yet, once I Investigate and further  Shocked

only bout 5 or 6 aircraft do this tho, the rest all work fine,,,, no problem'o !

anyway,, thanks for the reply's !

Actually the XFX 6950 has Eyefinity. At least according to the
quick check
that I just did (check under "Specifications" in the middle of the page).

I had the same type of problems, sometimes it's there, and sometimes it was just black.

Are you running 2 monitors as a "single" monitor or an "extended" monitor?

In the end, I think I reverted to an older version of "Catalyst Control Center", but kept the newer drivers.

I was over on Cal Classics web page for a minute - sorry, actually a while,,,

I'm running , have it set up as a dual monitor,, I've got 2 - 27" falat panel screens ,,,,

All my captain sim 707's 727's 737's seem just fine when I do it, and Just Flights too,, and LHS Simulations work well, and a lot of the FREEWARE ones move over there fine,,, just a few gimme problemo's !

even tho I resize them to a smaller screen,, on the 1st monitor, than try to transfer them to the 2nd,,, on the way over to the 2nd monitor,,,, they go Black,,, but if I move em' back to my main monitor,,, their good again.

none of my other Aircraft give me those types of problems tho,,, ???

So I dunno, I was thinking its got to be the way the file is saved,,, for it to do that,, and only with those 5 or 6 planes,,,

Lionheart creations aircraft don't gimme any problems either and their GPS  that they built,, is way more intense than the standard GPS 500,, that FSX comes with,,,

Ahh I'll look into it sum more Sunday, I was researching an old propliner that a Vegas Hotel owned back in the 50's & 60's for one of my projects of trying to repaint 1 of Just Flights Constellations in the same theme & colors as the one owned by the Hacienda Casino & Hotel,,, back in the day,,,

What an intersting read , never knew that !

heres some of the link I was readinjg, intersting if nothing else.

1/4 way down the web page you'll see the article on the Aircraft
