There was only one time in my somewhat distant past when I was in temperatures that more than rivalled this. A very hot summer day in Nebraska: a thermometer in shade showed 114°F (~45½°C). I'd gotten a small carton of milk and forgot it on the counter -- it had turned to cottage cheese.

I didn't move around much and the temperature dropped steadily as he sun dispeared in the horizon. It wasn't a pleasant situation but there weren't any fires to contend with. I hope the best in recovery in Tasmania.
