Hey all you gentlemen and ladies!! This is my first post on the forum part of this site so please go easy on me.

I couldn't help but notice the *coughs* lack of airports in North Korea in the default FSX. I've always wanted to fly these forbidden skies. I've downloaded all the DPRK add ons and they are all right but none of them had it all. So I have decided to ATTEMPT to make a huge DPRK scenery package with all the airports in there using info from Google Earth and the sketchy info available online.

This is also my first attempt at making an original scenery. All the others have been modifications to default stuff.

I'm using Scenery Design Editor and have no problems when I'm modifying stuff. I have the first small strip made but when I hit "Compile Airport" I have this evil error message that pops up Angry Angry Sad!!! Something about I'm using an unknown .bglcomp or something. Anyways, it's not working. I can't give the exact words because I'm not on my computer right now. If that would help I can try and post them later.

I have contacted the makers but there is no response so I thought ya''ll might be able to help. Thanks for any info!!!

System :

HP pavilion dv7

Windows 7 64 bit

nvidia 2 gig video card

1 terabyte hard drive.

Intel core i7 processor

17.3" screen.

That's all I know from memory. Hopefully it's enough.

Happy new year!!!!!

Welcome to SimV....

Scenery Design Editor??  Do you mean Airport Design Editor 9X (ADE9X)?

What FS are you desiging for, FS2004, FSX?

If FSX, have you installed the SDK? (Comes with either the Deluxe or Gold release of FSX.)

What is the exact error message?

You know....you can just rip up a to-do list.

Yeah sorry, I meant Airport Design Editor 9X. Don't know what I was thinking with calling it Scenery Design Editor Tongue.

I am using FSX. I don't even have FS9 installed so it can't be a problem with that  Wink.

I do have the SDK and everything installed (like I said, I can modify no problem). When I run the ADE Checker thingamajig it's all green and says it's ok to run ADE.

the exact error message is this (copying and pasting)

"ScruffyDuck Scenery Design Engine Compiling
Using UNKNOWN BglComp....

I am sorry but if you tried to contact us we did not receive it.

The Unknown BglCompiler message is a 'red herring' and as I recall we have removed that from the current beta since it does not mean anything.

The problem is here:

ERROR:            <Tower
ERROR:                  lat = 999
ERROR:                  lon = -0.0003387
ERROR:                  alt = 0.0F

For some reason the tower latitude is 999 so it needs fixing.  It must be between -90 and +90.

Thanks guys!

Don't worry bout not getting my email. I know sometimes stuff just gets lost in Cyberspace for unknown reasons.

I thought that tower stuff might have something to do with it. The original airport doesn't have a tower (as far as I can tell)...it's just kinda a concrete strip.

I added a small tower to the strip but it still didn't fix the problem so I guess I'm confirming my theory that I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.  Tongue

How would I try to fix this? I would imagine it is a relatively easy fix but I could be wrong (nothing new for me lol).

Any help anyone can give is very appreciated. If I ever get this huge package created I'll be happy to share it with everyone!

Can you find the tower (pink circle with a T in it) on the display in ADE?   if so then select it and drag it a bit.  Now hit the Enter key and check the latitude value in the property dialog.  If it now makes sense then you can go ahead and compile again.

To be honest I am not sure how it managed to get this value since the validators in ADE don't usually let you enter an invalid number.

If you can't see the tower then (I assume you are using the latest version of ADE (1.50) check near the bottom left of the main window.  If there is a red button (rather than a green one) then click it.  This is the issue manager and if it is red click it for help on compiler problems.

Thanks, that fixed the Compiling problem.

Now when I go inside FSX there is no runway there. I think what I did was I accidently put in the wrong altitude for the airport (put it in below the ground at that point). Now it's just the very long process of trial and error. Thanks for all you guys' help!!

Probably going to be a LONG time before this thing( whole package) is ready for uploading to this site...
