Don't forget, all you enthusiastic; "18 Wheels of Steel" Truckers...(like me!)...

The new series starts this Friday, 4th. January, on Channel 5, British TV...>>>

http://www.channel5.com/shows/ice-road-truckers

So get your Peterbilts and Macks, etc, out; top them up with diesel and anti-freeze, give the tyres a good kicking, and join us up in the frozen North for some more excitement on the Ice Roads!

Paul...With Twin Air Horns, a CB radio, and a Rubber Duck..... Smiley...!

P.S. Don't forget to take your snow chains with you!

I saw this last series on the History channel, but I'm not going to spoil it for you.  What makes me mad though, from series one, you get the drivers and commentator saying 'If something happens out here on the Haul Road, there's no way to get help.' blah blah blah.

Using FSX I decided to follow the route from Fairbanks to Prudhoe Bay and guess what, there is at least six airstrips along that route, and if you follow the route on Google earth, you'll see most of them are right next to the road, so things are not quite as bad as they suggest.

I watched a new series last night on Quest called 'Outback Truckers' from Australia and to be fair, it made the guys from IRT look professional.  There was this one driver, heading toward a rail crossing in one of their road trains (twice as long) with a car in front at about 120kph.  The lights on the crossing were flashing so the car slows to a stop.  The road train pulls out, passes the car and crosses the crossing, all the time the driver is 'complaining', 'These car drivers have no idea how long it takes to stop one of these trucks'.........  Well, if a train had been crossing, what would 'she' have done then.

But again, it was, 'if something happens out in the bush, we are in trouble', but I bet there is airstrips along the way.

Anyways, rant over, enjoy IRT Fozzer

If you find yourself falling off a cliff, you might as well try to fly.......What have you got to lose?

Hey Paul, I got 18WOS extreme trucker and just recently 18 WOS Haulin, which I found a great add-on of the Dalton Hyw, aka The Haul Road. Can't remember were I got it but copy this into google or what ever search engine you use,

Dalton-Elliot-Highway-Extreme-v1.95.rar

Just extract the file and put it in the mod folder in 18wos haulin. It's a challange, just as you think you got a handle running the haul road it will bit you in the arse if you get to comfertable. Those drivers really earn there pay, at my age just running it in the sim gives me a rush, would have love to have heard about this hwy in my younger days, I'm still thinking about just running it as a civillan with my camper truck.

Ta for the heads-up. Ang..

I've downloaded the 2 RAR Files (Prog +the patch).
I don't know if it will work in my WOS Across America, and WOS Pedal to the Metal...
I'll give it a try!
I've got an idea that "WOS Extreme Trucker" also covers the Ice Road route...>>> http://www.extremetrucker.com/
(I haven't purchased that one ...yet!)... Wink...!

Rig n Roll is my favourite...for California... Smiley...!...>> http://rignroll.com/

Paul....Peterbilt Perfection!... Cheesy...!

Getting various tasty snacks ready for Ice Road Truckers on my TV tonight!.... Grin...!

I watch Ice pilots on line all the time because it airs at 10pm on a weekday, no way I can stay up late. Two days after it airs on tv it should be available on your countries version of online History or Discovery channels.

... Grin... Grin...!

Just finished watching Ice Truckers, and for the life of me, I still cant figure out why anybody, with a full set of marbles, would want to live and work in such freezing conditions (-40*C!).

I was surprised to see Alex back again after nearly dying of a heart problem in the previous episode!
..and the new, over confident Redneck driver at Manitoba was certainly a poser.. to be taken down a peg, or two!... Wink...!

I just need to defrost before next weeks episode, now...!

Paul.....glad to be back in warm, sunny, California!.... Cool...!
