The Sitar.

Of interest to me as a collector and player of many musical instruments.

Paul.

P.S. Ravi Shankar: Father of Norah Jones. The singer and musician!

...just as an aside... Wink...

I can recall, with much amusement, many years ago, passing a musical shop, with my eldest daughter, and eyeing up a Sitar on display...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sitar

...and she, being acutely aware of my fascination for collecting and playing all sorts of musical instruments....noticing my admiring gaze...

...said to me...

"Dad, If you bring one of those bloody awful things into my house, I will disown you!".... Angry...!

So that was the end of that prospective purchase!... Grin...!

Paul... Grin... Grin... Grin...!

He was 92.  This is the first I'm hearing of it.

We thank him for his contributions to the world of great music and his influences on many of us musicians in the late 60's.  I had the great, great pleasure of seeing Ravi in a recital here in Miami long ago, in a movie theatre somewhere in town, I forget exactly where, one of the best concerts in my memory.

R.I.P. Ravi Shankar.
