I have FS9.I love Camsim AC.Downloaded their Biz jet and noticed that when I taxied to the runway,as I rounded corners,the craft 'slid around the corner as if on ice,rather than an acurate front gear steering.I looked at the contact points from the Camsim Phenom 300 as an example,but couldnt get anywhere with it.Not asking for a detailed repair answer (tho it would be nice).Just need to know what line to work on,or where to start.Thanx a bunch for any help. Do you mean you don't see the wheel steering.

You'd have to see it live as the steering animation doesn't show on playback...is this on playback you're looking at it?

Afternoon Sir.When I'm in SPOT view,looking down I notice as I round corners,my craft doesnt seem to be steering with front wheel only.It's as if it steers in Crab mode like the B-52.Looks similar to watching these kids in their fast little cars 'drifting'.As if I'm slipping around the corner on ice,but at taxi speed.If I'm not being clear enough,I'd behappy to try and re-explain.Thanx Cap'n! Hi Stephan. There are a lot of CamSim aircraft posted on Simviation alone. If you can be more specific someone can check this out for you. Which aircraft have you tried & what controller/joystick do you use? File name or the description & a link to the page the file is posted on would be a great help.

I've tried this one in FS9 & not noticed anything wrong with the ground handling. http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=B788V4JAL9.zip&categoryId=

Hello Col.;
The ac is (once unzipped and entered into FS9 AC folder) CamSim Biz Jet C20.Its a twin engine concept.Black over white fuselage.A 10 passenger AC.I am using a Saitek AV8R-01 flight stick controller.This is the first CamSim that I have the drift steering occur.But not the only ac.Out of about 125 ac in my hangar,only about 5 do this at the most. I used the Simviation search and came up with this address...
http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=Biz+Jet+C20&categoryId=
I ran the link and it works...its the FS9 version.Nuff info,Sir?.Thanx.stephan//Altitude With Attitude  Cool Hope to hear from you. Grin

OK. I see what you mean. It looks to me that the main wheels are set too far back. This can be tweaked in the contact points section of Aircraft.cfg.

Its a long time since I messed around with this stuff so perhaps someone more qualified than me can fix it for you.

This should get you started. The entries I've marked in red are the main gear fore/aft position in feet. I've also tweaked some variables for the nose gear including the steering angle in blue.

[contact_points]

point.0 = 1, 18, 0, -8.26, 1181.1, 0, 1,
45
, 0.3, 2.5, 0.82, 15, 15, 0, 0, 0
point.1 = 1,

point.2 = 1,

I thank you so much,Sir.I dont doubt the info you furnished me with.I will give it a shot.When I get assistance like this,I try to see how and why it works...then try to apply that reasoning to other ac.All part of the learning process .
QUESTION for you...
There is explanations for the 15 adjustments that can be made for each line.But I cant find anything to explain what each line represents.I know 1 is wheel,2 is scrape and 3 is float.But when there are several lines for 2 and several for 3,I am lost.Is there a document anywhere that describes these lines? This that you have given me so far will be a GREAT help,I know.I thank you for your taking the time to help.With all the simmers with all their questions,we must keep you folks hoppin'. Again,I thank you! Grin stephan // Altitude With Attitude!  Cool

Well,I gave the tweeks a try,and even tried some of my own and still,nothing.So I 86ed the bloody thing.I got well over 100 other ac I can use,and I can just repaint one;maybe a Lear 45.Dont understand why CamSim didnt catch that problem.I notified them and he said he didnt have the model data any longer.WHAT?...no memory sticks?But,none the less,I am very grateful for your attempts to help me with this problem.Maybe if I can get to understand what each line represents,(this problem craft had 6 or 7 lines),and what each figure in each line means in laymans terms...(like 'what the devil is a scrape?'),I will be able to rework some of the flaws.Again,thanks for your efforts and time. stephan //Altitude With Attitude!  Cool

That's disappointing. I set those contact points accurately with a utility named ACM. My tweaks might not be perfect but if you'd used the complete contact points section from my last reply (copy & paste into Aircraft.cfg) you should have noticed a big difference in the ground handling.

Quote:
Maybe if I can get to understand what each line represents,(this problem craft had 6 or 7 lines),and what each figure in each line means in laymans terms...(like 'what the devil is a scrape?')

Points 0, 1 & 2 are the nose, left & right gear respectively.

Points 3, 4, 5 & 6 are Scrape points. These are the points like wing-tips where the airframe would touch the ground if it tips over.

There is a brief explanation of the different variables above the contact points section in all default Aircraft.cfg files.

        //0  Class                        <0=none,1=wheel, 2=scrape, 3=float>
        //1  Longitudinal Position        (feet)
        //2  Lateral Position             (feet)
        //3  Vertical Position            (feet)
        //4  Impact Damage Threshold      (Feet Per Minute)
        //5  Brake Map                    (0=None, 1=Left, 2=Right)
        //6  Wheel Radius                 (feet)
        //7  Steer Angle                  (degrees)
        //8  Static Compression           (feet)  (0 if rigid)
        //9  Max/Static Compression Ratio
        //10 Damping Ratio                (0=Undamped, 1=Critically Damped)
        //11 Extension Time               (seconds)
        //12 Retraction Time              (seconds)
        //13 Sound Type
        //14 Airspeed limit for retraction     (KIAS)
        //15 Airspeed that gear gets damage at (KIAS)

For more detailed information check out the Aircraft Container SDK. http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/downloads.php?do=cat&id=10

Note: This is incorrect. It should read

<0 = None, 1 = Wheel, 2 = Scrape, 3 = Skid, 4 = Float, 5 = Water Rudder>

Col.,Sir...I am almost positive I copied n pasted the tweeks,but ya know,at my age I forget a lot of things.So,I'll re-unzip the ac,reinstall it and enter your tweeks by copy n paste.I tend to quit too soon sometimes.Not often,but I get tired of struggle.So,thanx again,and AGAIN (for the contact data n link).Dont know what I'd do without you folks! Grin Back to the drawing board.If you go through the trouble to help,the least I can do is stick to it! Stay High (Flying)!!!   stephan //Altitude With Attitude! Cool

If you do these tweaks while FS is running please remember to select another aircraft after editing is complete. Let it load then select the one you're working on. I find it just as quick to quit FS9 & restart it.

Well,sir;
I entered the tweeks (all 6 lines) you offered and yes,it does tame the problem some...but,the problem is still evident.I noticed there were 2 mdl files in the model folder and I renamed them and swapped them and retested,with and without the tweeks,and the problem exists.I cant see spending anymore time on this problem.I've got too many other ac to fly without frustrating over one (
Camsim BizJet C20
).So,I thank you for your time and effort in trying to correct this
problematic Camsim ac
,and I shall sign off.Thanx again. Smiley/stephan / Altitude With Attitude!  Cool
