So I hate to be a noob here, but I purchased FSX Gold Edition, and I've been reading through the boards about the SP1 and SP2 and acceleration. My version of FSX says Acceleration on the main page when I load FSX. I guess that means it alredy has SP1 and SP2 installed? Thanks.

Flight Simulator Gold Edition includes the Deluxe Edition and the Acceleration Expansion Pack in one bundle. In addition to all of the content in the Deluxe Edition, the Acceleration Expansion Pack delivers an all-new online multiplayer race mode, new action-packed missions, more new content, and newly enhanced DX10 graphics. Also included is an important service pack for Flight Simulator X, which improves overall game performance.

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

As far as I know, Acceleration is a buffed version of SP2, which should also include changes for SP1. So no additional downloads would be necessary after installing Acceleration. Even Simviation says that it "is now hosting the FSX Service Packs 1 and 2 for those who do not have FSX Acceleration". As I saw in another place, unless you want only SP2 but none of the features of Acceleration, than install the former. Otherwise, Acceleration should be all you need. I personally did the same thing, bought FSX Golden Edition and installed Acceleration, and haven't had any problems with any addons that require either service packs. Hope it helps!

Hi!

Hope it worked out.  This is slightly off topic but was just wondering did Microsoft stop selling Fsx Deluxe and normal and now only sell Gold?  Because they no longer host SP1 and Sp2 themselves even though they keep the pages up!  The links just don't work!

But luckily Simviation came to the rescue (and also filefront or gamefront or something host them).

Also being a noob is cool.  That was the time I was most into flightsim personally.  And who cares how many "hours" you have!  They are all hours in front of a computer screen!

Hope it might help!

Many thanks!

thanks for the replys. I'm not new to flight sim. I remember playing flight sim 1.0 when my dad bought the first computer. I don't remember what it was I was so young, but it had a turbo button and a key to lock it some how. I've personally owned flight sim 95, 98, 2000, and now flight sim x. I've spent way too many hours behind the screen of a fake airplane. LOL! Oh well I guess.
