Hi all

I'm working on a new exiting  projet of the
Golden age of aviation, The USS Langley CV-1
...

Just for the fun !

The goal is to made the Carrier USS Langley CV-1, one historic plane and 2 historic mission.
...

The Gmax model of the langley its a detailed model !
but all go well and my  gmax model is done at 50%  ! Cool

The deck of the carrier will be fully landable whir arrestor cable and compatible whit FSX acceleration and dx10 texture !

I'm also working on  2 very interesting historic missions for it !,  in the  Cape Henry and the york river area in virginia , where the USS Langley was built and tested !

Here the mission detail I have find for now !

Oct. 17, 1922 - Lieut. V.C. Griffin, in a Vought VE-7SF, took off from USS Langley at anchor in the York River, Virginia, 37°14′52″N 76°22′57″W making the first take-off from an aircraft carrier

On 26 October 1922, Lieutenant Commander Godfrey de Chevalier, USN, flew his Aeromarine 39-B on to the flight deck of the United States Navy’s first aircraft carrier, USS Langley (CV-1), while cruising off Cape Henry, Virginia. 36°55′29.3″N 76°1′12.4″W  (flight time "Jenny: 1 hour)

Chevalier had launched from the Navy’s Yorktown Naval Aviation Field at Yorktown, Virginia (more on Yorktown Airfield).37.27 North / 76.57 West

mission was done at 75% .

The real probleme is the  aircraft !.   Cry
I have search for an 1920 Aeromarine 39-B and a Vought VE-7SF model but nothing for FSX or fs9 ?

I need some one interested to made the Aeromarine 39-B  model,
here some data for it !
...

Length: 30 ft 4¼ in (9.25 m)
Wingspan: 47 ft 0 in (14.32 m)
Height: 13 ft 2 in (4.01 m)
Wing area: 494 ft² (45.89 m²)
Empty weight: 1,939 lb (880 kg)
Loaded weight: 2,050 lb (931 kg)
Max. takeoff weight: 2,505 lb (1136 kg)
Powerplant: 1 × Curtiss OXX-6 Vee piston, 100 hp (75 kW)
Performance

Maximum speed: 73 mph (117 km/h 63 knots))
Range: 273 miles (439 km)
Service ceiling: 8,200 ft (2,500 m)
Power/mass: 0.049 hp/lb (80 W/kg)

...

or the Vought VE-7SF model  or a Douglas DT-2 model.
...

Maibe its possible to take the Curtiss "Jinny" as main base for beguining the model
the plane is not so hard to do (no need to made a 2d panel)
and I can help making the 3d panel, all helper will be fully credited in my projet.

I need also some one interested to do the Navy’s Yorktown Naval Aviation Field at Yorktown, Virginia  a "vintage airport" in the 1920 area (where  Chevalier had launched (position 37.27 North  76.57 West) just some hangar and an airfield its ok)
here some data
...
...

If some one is interested on this exiting projet just send me a message here. thank you in advance !.

Ronald.

if someone does make one, I hope it's the fellows over at classicwings.net. Their stuff is incredible! anyways, great work on the Langley! Langley AFB is semi local, so there's some connection there, I think Grin

Well, you did a lot more and did a better job than I could have done. I just managed to get the fuselage shaped. It's a good learning experience, though
