Does a joystick with a twist rudder or rudder pedals improve the turning speed of the planes in cfs2 & 3 or any sim ? I noticed quite a difference in the turning speed on a friends pc running the same games. Our pc's are very close to the same specs as well. I currently use my Attack 3 joystick and the difference was quite obvious. I've never used button assignments to control the rudder I just use auto rudder.

I cant imagine trying to control a Sim Aeroplane in a Flight Simulator without a; "Twist Joystick"!
All my non-twist Joysticks are only suitable for playing Computer Games.
Using "Auto-rudder" control is most unreal, which is why some Folks got to the added expense of purchasing separate; "Rudder Pedals".

Thanks for the reply. I should have bought a joystick with the twist rudder to begin with. But I'm still not sure that the rudder contributes to the very noticeable increase in turning speed on my friends pc as compared to my pc. I will certainly buy a new joystick with twist rudder now. I'll be looking for a plug & play stick because my gaming pc isn't connected to the internet and I'm not into downloading extra aircraft and terrain etc. Any joystick recommendations would be appreciated.

Have you compared your joystick axis 'sensitivity' and 'null zone' settings against your friends settings?

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.          Igor Sikorsky

You know....you can just rip up a to-do list.

No I haven't tried any settings changes yet. I think it is probably the actual mechanical twist effect of the rudder itself that is superior to the selection of auto rudder or other settings. My friend will be back in town in a few days and I'm going to try his joystick on my pc and use his settings. That should provide the answer. In the mean time I'll try tinkering with these settings as well.
