When the conversation "revolves" around about Shooters and Guns, it always reminds me of the old Hollywood Cowboy and Indian Films, which we all watched...

..maybe that's where the whole idea, and fascination, comes from... Wink...!

I blame John Wayne...and Clint Eastwood!... Roll Eyes...!

Over here we had Robin Hood, and Bows and Arrows*... Grin...!

Paul....Hi-Ho Silver!... Grin...!

* ...and Pointy Sticks... Wink...!

Would you like to repeat that again, very slowly, very clearly, and very precisely...
Don't blame me -- he's the one who mentioned "animals with sticks." I, of course, was referring to antlers... you, on one hand or the other, may have thoughts (thank the Lord I changed the word I first used!) elsewhere.

Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto expressed an appropriate comment in the 1940’s (though many believe the forthcoming statement was actually propaganda originated in the U.S. and stated by American press outlets, and not the Admiral).

“You cannot invade the mainland United States.  There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.”

Whether or not Yamamoto ever actually said those words, doesn’t diminish the facts as they stand.  As appropriate as that statement was in the 40’s it is perhaps much more appropriate now as the U.S. appetite for guns has evolved into something worthy of a talking to from the Catholic priest, worried about a nation’s gluttonous behavior.

About 8-9 million guns are produced each year worldwide by best estimates; some 4.6 million (last reasonable estimate was made in 2006 Q4) of those end up in the hands of Americans, approximately 50% of total global production.  Estimates of 100 million guns in private hands are accurate on the low end, with some sources stating total gun volumes are nearing 350 million in private hands and somewhere near 475 million with active military arms included.

If there wasn't a gun behind every blade of grass in 1940 there is in 2012.

In my times, we just showed our teeth, and waved a wooden club, as a threat...

...later on someone came up with the bright idea of sticking a nail through the end of it, making it a much more painful/lethal weapon!

I think bows and arrows followed it, some time later.

Paul...Clubbing it......

I had great fun in with a spud gun whist on holiday in the States this year. We did it at night, it was like watching a Howitzer going off. Building one in Germany though would get you a very nice one room hotel with three meals a day........................ Roll Eyes

Matt, spud guns are illegal in Michigan as well but every decent man has either made one or shot one. My dad may or may not  Wink have had one he named "Big Bertha", man she was a beaut! Sadly after a LOT of use we had to scrap her  Cry

Greg, FN?! Nice!  Cool
