Hey again guys.

Ok, I purchased Real Environment Xtreme Essentials a couple of weeks ago, it looks great, but I don't know if I am getting all of what I paid for. What I mean by this, is that I don't know if I have it set up correctly, and everything is working as it should. Some of you guys have amazing screenshots with REX, but I have yet to find that kind of weather. All of my FSX settings are on the highest settings, REX is on the highest settings. The REX WX Weather thing doesn't seem to work, it doesn't display a weather radar, like the manual says, it is just a blank white screen. Any advice for an REX newbie?

Also: Off subject a bit, but I have downloaded an ORBX Freeware, the Bowerman airport, and let it install...but I don't know if it installed properly, when I go there it still looks like default FSX.

Can't help with REX but re: Bowerman

From the ORBX/FTX free KHQM product description-"Standalone version only for customer with the full payware FTX-PNW region."

It is included in the Pacific Northwest Demo which can be downloaded from the same ORBX/FTX site.

Hi there.

You have to run REX as administrator. The same blank screen happened to me on the weather radar. There are two ways to do it. One is set it up in the desktop shortcut. Right-click on the REX icon and in the Shortcut tab click Advanced... Then mark "Execute as administrator".  I would not recommend this one as this only applies to the program being executed from the shortcut. For a more permanent solution, see the option below [this is for Windows 7 - names of the tabs/commands may be different as I am translating on the fly from my own Windows in Portuguese, but they should be at least close to the English version].

The other way is to do it directly in the REX executable. Find the executable (rex.exe) and right-click on it. Go to the Compatibility tab and mark the "Execute this program as administrator". Whenever this executable is called it will now run with the administrator privileges, even from the shortcuts. Windows will ask you for your permission to run it every time you double-click the shortcut, so you should say Yes.

Do the same to your FSX executable. Find the fsx.exe file and mark it to run as administrator. This will allow every program involved to run at the same privilege level and maybe give your FSX access to some more resources.

If just after you load FSX the weather still does not seem to be what you expect, minimize FSX, go to the REX weather radar, right-click on it and then click "Load weather". This will force REX to load the weather data into FSX. And of course don't forget to ask REX to load the textures before even starting FSX Smiley

I know that giving programs administrator rights is not the best idea but that was the only solution that worked for me. REX does not seem to do anything harmful to my computer too - hope that stays true.

Hope it helps!!!

To be sincere, I don't know why your problem still persists. On my installation the Administrator rights worked to solve it. Maybe some permissions on files/folders, but I really have not many ideas right now. Maybe in your case it would be better to contact their customer support.

Sorry for not being able to be of more help. Hope you can fix it.

Have you right-clicked the black frame around the white screen ?    It displays a small menu where you click load weather.

It looks like a different layout to my "REX Weather Avoidance" version for my FS 2004.

Mine works OK after clicking "Load Weather", it then shows the Map of the local area in the Flight Sim. (Don't forget to start the Sim first, and pick your location so it knows where you are, then run the REX Weather engine....I have the Icon on my Desktop for quick access).

I gave that a shot, and still nothing. I'm just going to have to contact their support team.
