I went on Flight Simulator 2002 today and it said that it wouldn't load because I'm missing the default flight.  Can someone please tell me where I can reload the default flights from my disks?

Thank You!

I'm far too lazy to try to find my cds so let's try to fix this another way first.

Open Windows explorer and navigate to your FS2002 directory.  There should be a folder named Flights and a bunch of subfolders.  If you can't find the Flights directory you will have to re-create it from cd but I'm too lazy to try to find my cds right now.

If the Flights folder exists you  probably have a corrupt FS2002.cfg file.

Go back to your FS2002 directory and make a copy of the FS2002.cfg file (just in case).

Now open the original FS2002.cfg file with notepad and scroll down until you find a line that starts with "SITUATION=".  Delete that line, save and close the file and start FS2002.  This should reset the default flight to "Meigs".

Hi Jim,

Thanks.  I was going through and deleting Microsoft created flights from the menu to create more computer space.  That's why I think this happened.  I hope your solution below works.  I thought a simple cut and past of the flights would fix it all without having to narrow down the specific file.

Here's a map of the files on cd.  You can extract the .cab files with winzip or winrar.

This is the error I get:

Microsoft Flight Simulator cannot find the default flight (FLIGHTS/OTHER/FLTSIM.FLT).

This file must exist for Flight Simulator to start.
