And the text on the plate... the flight engineer was the only one who could use his parachute. According to local legend parts of the parachute still survive as part of a lamp shade.

Bergen as in not far from Venlo, Goch, and Weeze or is it a different Bergen. I visit this area once or twice a year.

Bergen airfield near Alkmaar in Northern Holland. It was used by the Luftwaffe during WWII. http://www.basher82.nl/Data/stompetoren/butain.htm

Bergen Airfield had Bf109s, FW109s and was a support field for Me110s.
They had a Ju-52 with magnetic ring minesweeper


Whole operation cleaned up in 1944
