This plane is only available as freeware.  FSS produced a payware version but that company is now out of business.
The best freeware is the one by Mike Stones but it has no VC and the panel is very basic.  It was originally for FS2002.  As with all Mike Stones's planes the flight model is superb and you can almost forgive the rest. Almost!

The Saab 340 is still widely used in commercial aviation - Penair in AK has 12 I think, some 340A and some 340B types.  Flybe (GB) has several and many small airlines in Scandinavia e.g. Estonia Air has a fleet of around 20 planes.

The FS community is short of PMDG class turboprops. We have the ATR but even this is only for FS2004 I think.  We also have the Majestic Dash Q300, although why they did not model the more widely used Q400 beats me!

So, please developers, let's have new turboprops for FSX, X-plane, and FS2004!   Smiley

I wish the FSS version was still available.  I had it on my old computer, but lost it when I upgraded.  It was well worth the money and an excellent simulation of the SF340B systems.  This one of the reasons why I truly support those payware firms that allow their older models to be released as freeware once they are done with it, so that such great models are not lost.

Whatever happened to the FFG SAAB 340?  It used to work in FS2002 too.  Would love to find a copy.

Thanks,

Mike

No the Freeware Flight Group.  I seem to remember a copy on Simviation as well but have been unable to locate it.

Forgive my ignorance if I am wrong, but if a business such as FSS has ceased to exist would that not also terminate any copyright once affiliated with them? Meaning that any payware they produced could now effectively be construed as freeware?
If so it is likely that somebody has the version of the Saab340 you are looking for and could send it to you.
I may however be entirely wrong with my logic too!
