Yes I am new to FSX, and yes I want to download some add-on planes, of course I would love to pay for good quality planes, so I Google where I can get it, then I found SimViation.  I clicked the FSX and look around there, I saw many planes, as a new add-on user, I thought it would be good site to download plane so I paid right away. I didn’t know what detailed planes are yet, till I found this other website. Then I realize simviation is like kid’s toy compare to that.
First of all, planes on simviation are mostly less than 100mb, and planes on the other site are over 100mb mostly, and the detailed planes are up to GBs. No kidding. And way more maps, A.I towers and co polite that can talk, and so many other add-ons, lots of add-ons and maps are in GBs. In digital world, size does matter, big will be better because it is more detailed. compare to a plane that size of 60mb, a plane with 600mb will be better and everyone knows it. The best part is they categorize all the stuff they have under FSX, not like here, everything is mixed in a mess together.
Second thing I noticed, simviation put everything under FSX, texture, and whatever is in there is mixed with planes, I am new, and I don’t know what is what, I want simple download link that provide me with a full package to install. The installation of the packages I download here is pretty simple good, but I had to look over 10000000 pages to just browse what is offered, because there is just too much non-package things mixed in there.
Then this morning I was trying to download things, simviation limited me to 2 downloads, and speed was at 40kb/s, my internet service provider let me download at speed of 100mb/s, and normally I download at rate of 5mb/s, a 40kb/s with only 2 links for a paid user? And yes I did login, maybe it was just little error from the server or something I don’t know, but yesterday I was downloading at the speed of light from simviation. This is no issue, just to let whoever cares know about it.

My suggestion is, get those big files to simviation, those more detailed planes and all the crazy sized add-on, the other site have map for over 20GB to download for god’s sake. I paid yesterday for simviation, and honestly if I knew simviation does not offer high quality stuff, I would never pay. On the other hand I won’t mind paying double or triple the price if there were.
If there are these high quality things here in simviation, please let me know, because I can’t find it. Otherwise if simviation don’t mind refund my money, because I have no use for the service simviation provide, please contact me as well.
These are out of personal opinion, no offence to anyone or anywhere.

All downloads are free, but there is a download cap. If your membership did not go through successfully, just ask one of the admins and they can help, or the moderators can point you in the right direction.

SimV itself does not produce FSX addons, they're user created and SimV just hosts them. The website is not responsible for the quality of the addons... It's about getting user creativity out to the public! If other sites offer what you want instead, then download things there. Many users from here do not solely use SimV to download addons - Some users prefer just certain sites to host their creations, so there are a lot of sites to get freeware and payware addons.

If I were you, just chill, sort out the problems and then re-evaluate. It's one of the friendliest sites out there, and you're perceiving it all wrong.

The thing is:
Simviation allows non-detailed aircraft so that if there isn't a certain aircraft available for FSX there can at least be a decent representation.

And simviation DOES have those great aircraft, its just that you have to use the search option.
And good planes have to be big downloads?nonsense.
That they are big downloads usualy means that they are FPS heavy and small downloads can be great too, look at Tim piglet's paris jet. Wink

And simviation downloads ARE organised into FSX aircraft FS9 aircraft, FSX scenery etc.
I DO agree that repaints should be in a different group tough.

And i've heard some issues with the site recently too,its probably a temporary issue. Wink

For sure it would be a very friendly place to spend time, but please understand my point is I pay for high quality items, and simV does not offer them, and only offer things are free anyways, but if you pay you get faster speed. As someone pays to get service I do expect the website function better.
I understand what you are saying, and honestly I do agree with you, but in that case why simv charging that amount of money for the stuff that is been offered?

As one of the best fsx sites, I think simv should have offer things for much different type of users, such as me. Especially people pay for service.

the bigger size items normally offer very detailed inside, and offer very functional panels, same plane on the other site and here is so different inside out. please don't get me wrong, simv seems to be a very friendly site, but as someone want to simply pay to download good stuff, it's just not enough i guess

Like in a lot of things in life, size is not everything. 100mb will produce a great aircraft. I have to say, if the file is in GB, then I roughly know two things about it. It will take all day to download and that it is 1.9GB of different textures.
Also, here at SimV, you do not have to join to download. Downloading is free here. The only reason to join is if you want faster download speed and to support the upkeep of the sight.

That is because if you are a premium member (paid up) then you did not log in correctly and got what all free members get, 40kb and a two download limit for simultaneous downloads. A premium member can download as many as they want, but as I said you have to log in properly. Logging into the site and logging in to download are two separate procedures.
Try again, you many find that you like it here. It is the friendliest aviation site on the web.

Oh no they are not! A well detailed aircraft, even from a high quality payware company will hardly reach 100-200MB.
A plane whose zip file weights around 100MB and freeware is probably about the best you can get for nothing. Unless of course the plane is crap and it only weights that much because the creator has no knowledge of compression... But that's very rare. Up to now the only plane I got that weighted close to 1GB was the Aerosoft F-16 (770MB), but that was only because of the various textures. The actual basic workable model with one texture didn't weight more than a few tens of MB.

Up is the way to go.

Hi billllllllll the important part of an aircraft is the MDL file that tells the game what the plane looks like. As others have said the part that takes up a lot of room are the textures.

So you can have a file on Simv that is only 50mb that is way better than a file that takes up 500mb.

I don't have these problems on Simv. I was posting a nice lengthy reply when the topic got moved and was unable to post message. Freeware sites cannot go out and 'get' crazy big downloads. Freeware devs voluntarily upload their work. The only sites I can come up with such super detailed large files, are payware sites, or sites that pirate payware. So as Pete asked, what sites are we talking about?

I have a fair few payware aircraft and not a single one is over a GB in size so I have no idea what you're aircraft are but it seems like there wasting space to me.
