It's here!!  The 2011-2012 season starts today.  Six more months until playoff season.  EA favors Pittsburg to win Lord Stanley's cup this year.  I think it will be between Tampa and Vancouver.  But I am forever hopeful that the Wings will prevail and show everyone why they are the best!  Good luck to everyone and here's to a safe season of hard hits and awesome saves!  Go Wings!!

I'm 50/50 on how the Avs will finish this year. Not to sure. I think we have the ability to finish around 4th or 3rd in the division...or it could go like last year and be last. I mean 2 brand new goalies.......who knows. Wink But Mueller's back.  Smiley

Avs in a close one.

Avs-6
Habs-5
Final/SO

Avs move to 4-1 on the season. Great road trip so far (4-0) with one game left. It was a great game to watch for either fan. Lets see if we can carry over this great hockey to next week against Toronto and Chicago.  Cool

...and I see that the Wings won in overtime also. Can't complain with that though I picked them to win.  Wink

Indeed I was biting my lip, we were dominating after the first period and should have ran them over, but those first two goals snuck past Howard.  Wasn't his fault either, he was screened by our own guys.  Hopefully they learn from this and continue the streak.

Avs are showing promise too.  Who knows, maybe us underdogs will dominate the league this year.  Everyone keeps talking about the sharks and penguins.  They aren't showing me much.  Crosby is due back soon, but is he going to be the same?  Let Kronwall get a hold of him haha.

Players are never the same after an injury that takes a long recovery process. And yeah this year shows some promising underdogs just like the NFL. I'm loving it so far.  Cheesy

And on a positive note...sharks blew their game tonight.  Smiley

Well my beloved Stars are doing pretty good so far. We're not playing the most attractive hockey, but Lehtonen is rock solid and saved us quite a bit. Hopefully Benn keeps getting better and better this year and the new vets we got can hold everything down. I can't wait to see what the new owners bring with them, we need new ticket prices because that arena has been EMPTY lately... Mind you they're competing against the Rangers (World Series baby!) and the Cowboys (I've got nothing for that one...).
Also keeping a close eye on the Avs, Philly, and Toronto. I really like how they played so far.

Stars at 8, Wings at 2...

Toronto and Avs should be a great game tonight. I'll be watching that and MNF. Should be a good night.  Cool

Great evenly matched game tonight! A thrilling finish but the Avs come through!!

Avs-3
Leafs-2
Final OT

Avs go back home after a 5-0 road trip!  Cheesy 5 game win streak moves up to 5-1....leading the western conference and nhl!  Smiley...may be early but always good to start with confidence.

Cool  Wings are 5-0 now.  I'm a bit concerned for Saturdays game against the Caps though.  We will be starting our backup goalie.  Gotta have faith though!

Yeah well now you've played a real team and got you a** kicked!  Cheesy Grin

Not that the wings suck or anything. Avs pulled through and won in shootout again keeping our road streak perfect (6-0) and our horrible home streak (0-2) but the Avs move to 6-2 after last night and my fantasy hockey plan worked out perfectly with Varlamov and Crawford. Both played against eachother twice meaning I got automatic 2 wins. Came back last night to get 10 points from my skaters (FINALLY THEY PRODUCED POINTS) and won this week (because he has noone playing today).  Smiley

Yeah I'm not going to discuss last nights game.  Sickening.  And my fantasy team just isn't making the cut either, although I think I have a good line up for this week.  Once Luongo gets back in his groove and Howard keeps his streak alive I should start producing some more wins.

Jimmy Howard had a baby yesterday.  Conklin will be in the net tomorrow night too against the Jackets.  Good luck this week, for some reason I can't seem to put points on the fantasy board.   Roll Eyes

Hey guys, which league are you guys playing on?
I'm on espn. My team was doing good up until this week and now they're either crumbling or I made some stupid trades...
I traded Jaromir jagr a week ago, and I traded Van Riemsdyk right before he decides to get two goals and one assist... What a cruel world  Roll Eyes
But my Stars are doing good this year (apart from last night's defeat) and I'm just gonna see how far that wave can carry us.

I was considering ESPN but decided to go with Yahoo. I liked it alot better when NHL.com had it on there site back in 2008.  Undecided

As far as the Stars season going, I just got Lehtonen because Carey Price hasn't been doing good at all so lets hope the Stars keep up. Same with the Avs. Can't seem to win at home for some reason?!  Undecided We defiantly need to win Sunday to keep the confidence up because as history goes for the Avs in the past few seasons, when confidence is down we keep falling and falling.

And those Red Wings....when I rely on them to beat the Sharks. Ahhhhhh..................................... Angry

I had Lethonen and Vokoun from the start, and I must say they  have posted great stats for me. Also, Vaclav Prospal and Milan Michalek have been solid scorers, and I just got Lupul in a trade. Along with H. Sedin, Tavares, Gaborik, Chara, Pronger, Duchene, etc... I expect to have a pretty solid year.

Shocked  My team got two hat tricks this week so far.  I could win this week!!!

(One of them was Franzen of course, just sayin)

Versteeg got one tonight much to my surprise.  I just picked him up last week from the FA to fill in for Staal's sorry ass.

Av's cant catch a break. Slash to the face on McClemment then Heatley and Seto skate down the ice and score. The refs "talked" it over after the goal after seeing a trail of blood on the ice they still proceeded to call it a goal and no penalty. Ah pucks are not going for the Av's right now...... Undecided I'm just hoping we can get a win Sunday against the Sharks.

After what the Sharks did to the Wings yesterday, i will be cheering the Avs on.   Angry

Breaks my heart to do this, but I'm benching Datsyuk.  He just isn't producing lately.  Him and Zetterburg need to pick up the slack if the Wings want to do a playoff run this year.  They have a combined 5 goals so far.   Makes me sick lol.

BONUS - Just found out my birthdate is the same day the Wings played their first ever game.  (they lost 2-0 to the Bruins, imagine that lol)

Ok Datsyuk just scored twice against LA.  I'll just move him to Utility and see how he does for a few more weeks before I bench him

Just picked up a good backup goalie to cover Luongo.  Number 1 in the NHL, sitting as a free agent lol.

What's going on with the Caps?! The Devils are killing them, and I'm glad I've got Kovalchuk on my team (1G, 1A). The Bruins are looking good again this year, they are winning 6-0 over the Panthers...

Avs 8-2 in their last 10 games. Currently tied for 8th place. Looks like there finally starting to turn things around. Probably because Joe Sacco realized his ass is on the line and if he didn't start getting this team to win he was gunna go.

No excuses either, a young lineup that should easily make playoffs..

On the downside, 2 games ago Matt Duchene got a knee injury and will be out for 4 weeks. Hopefully we can still play the same hockey we've been playing without him.  Cool

Winter Classic on tomorrow!!
Don't forget the changed start time!! 3 ET! (Thank god I don't have to wake up at 10am)  Grin

Yes it was! Good rivalry too just wanted to see a fight though! And it helped for the Rangers that Jagr was out.

Well Avs won again last night in SO vs the Kings. (7-0 in Shootout)

Just found out yesterday that my Mom got tickets for Colorado vs. Vancouver in Denver!! Never been to a home game before, been to the Pepsi Center once but were going in March after I visit the college I'm most likely gunna go to take a 2 day stop in Denver as part of my 18th birthday. Smiley Also getting a Duchene jersey (as you probably know he's my favorite Wink  Grin) to upgrade from my Sakic one.

After winning 23 straight games in Detroit we weren't going to let the Avs blow us out like that.  Wish we could have made the comeback though.  I was on the road listening to it on XM.  I was white knuckle the last 2 minutes.   Grin

So how about them Kings? They are looking real, real good. In last nights game, Phoenix could barely get passed their own blue line without being pressured. The Kings have one heck of a forecheck.

Red Wings fan first, but coming from Southern California, I've always been a Kings fan too.
