Have ya tried the Historic Jetliner Group?

Somewhat of a pain to install their stuff, but once ya get it figured, I think you'll like the result.

Installing the HJG aircraft shouldn't be any more difficult than adding a new texture to an existing aircraft. Download & install the Base Pack first. Then download a texture package & install that to it in the usual way.

Note that they have no VC & the sound.cfg will need redirecting to the default b737_800. You can add the correct 2D panels & sound packs later if you intend keeping the aircraft. The gauges should be compatible with FSX.

There's several different versions of the DC-8. If you choose one & a livery to go with it I'll try & walk you through it.  http://www.simviation.com/hjg/downloads.htm

Why not do as I suggested? Surely it's worth a try.
