Shut down the computer, open it up, and look at the video card cooling fan openings for being clogged up with junk.  If so, remove it and clean it all out.  If it is clean,........ make sure the fan is actually spinning.  If no dirt and the fan is spinning....... looks like a video card issue. 

My guess...... likely overheating.

John has most likely hit the nail on the head. I did have a situation once where my graphics drivers got updated and screwed up every thing untill I rolled back the driver.

I'd uninstall any and all graphics drivers and then re-install. Looks like driver corruption to me.
