Hi all,

I've very recently changed graphics card from a radeon 9250 256mb for a hd radeon 1gb. I've also changed system memory from 1gb to 2gb.
I'm getting poor frame rate at around 8fps with high detail settings on scenery and aircraft etc.
If i drop settings on the sliders to default there is no change in the fps.

The graphics card is overclocked using the ati overclocker to 790mhz gpu and 900mhz on the memory.

The odd thing is that i was sure that the best water textures were only available via dx10 and seeing as i'm on Xp sp3 i'm on dx9.0c but I am getting supperb water effects identical to screenshots I've seen of dx10 water effects, it simply looks real..

System is:
OS: Xp home sp3
CPU: P4 3.2ghz
Memory: 2 gb ddr 400mhz
graphics card: HIS hd 4670 iceq edition.

I was expecting better, I can fly with it fine, it still is fairly smooth but shift Z reports the low fps and the quality of what I see is great compared to what i had, just the fps is a bit of a let down.

Anybody else running similar system?

PS: currently running 1 monitor at 1024X768.
FSX ran 2 monitors better than fs9 did.

regards

Steve

So far my number of landings either passenger or pilot equal my number of takeoffs, but that is due to change Smiley

CPU: P4 3.2ghz is not going to do anything for FSX I would not even load it using just one core system. Your graphics  card is fine for getting low-med settings  its your CPU letting you down and memory is too low. I'm afraid you'll need to update more than your graphics card here.
I doubt very much anyone here in SimV is still on a P4 system Wink

won't be changing the pc anymore, I've extended it's life now and seeing as fsx is better than fs9 for me especially when it comes to dual monitors I'll stick with fsx and the PC has it is.

Whats concerning me is that shift z is reporting a low fps but it's smooth, there's not a single mission/task that slows it down or causes any stutter.

cheers for the reply (there are others on p4's here and they are also 3.2's)
