Not sure if this is the place for this, but, the file at http://simviation.com/1/download-file?file=dalocl10.zip for a very nice looking L1011 doesn't have any panel or sound config. Now there is a download for the panel http://simviation.com/1/download-file?file=l1011pan.zip , but while it contains some sounds, there is no sound configuration file. When I put everything together and go to fly it, there's no sounds because there's no .cfg file for the sounds. Does anyone know where to get a cfg file?

You're correct about the aircraft having no panel or sound. According to the Readme the author deliberately left these out to reduce the download size.

The sound files with the panel download are for the panel. They don't need a cfg file. To install them paste the WAV files into the FS9\Sound folder. For the aircraft sounds you can either find a Tri-Star sound set or alias it to the default B737_400. The easiest way of doing this is to paste a copy of the default B747_400 Sound.cfg into the Sound folder of your L-1011. (This is already aliased to the 737.)

This package apparent contains a sound set. http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=tri-star+sound&x=18&y=16

Thanks for the link. It's interesting that it didn't show up when I did a search for the L1011. I've noticed on some other L1011 downloads that they use the 737 sound config and was considering just going with that. But I also get an error for a gauge file (rp733.gau). Not sure what that's all about, but I'll figure out what it's for and redirect the config to a better gauge file.

I searched for "tri-star sound". Wink

Please tell me if you figure it out. From a quick search on Google this is a common error. It might be connected with FSSound.dll mentioned in the Readme. I note this is not included with the panel.

I think the rp733.gau is one of those multi gauges. The line in the panel.cfg calls out "gauge37=rp733!vsi_efis,  458,468,99,96" so it looks like it's the VSI. I've remeoved rp733.gau and I didn't see anything vanish off the instrument panel and there is already a blank spot (I'm guessing that's the VSI). There is also a rp733_ADI_efiss.gau in the gauge folder so I'm wondering if the gauge is just improperly named. I have to go to work now, but Sunday I should have some time to tinker.

Something odd about this aircraft. It not only crashes FS9 but reboots my PC when I select it. It's not the panel as I tried it with a default one.

That's odd. Are you using the one you linked to or the one I linked to. The one I linked to works and only that one gauge failed, but it's never crashed my puter.

Though I'm a bit disappointed with it. The panel is nice, but there's no tool tips and there's no additional windows like the throttle quad. Seems to fly nice though. Also no VC. But if I can get all the other stuff working, I'm not too worried about the VC.

I must say, though, seeing some of the screen shots for FSX and being that the gold edition (or whatever it's called that has FSX and the expansion pack) is on sale on Amazon for $30 I'm REAL tempted to get it. Wink

It is indeed odd. It's dalocl10.zip from the link in your original topic. I must have installed literally thousands of aircraft to all versions of FS over the years & this is one of the few I've had problems with. I still can't figure out what's causing it.

Sounds like you should get another L1011. I will change category to FS2002.

That's a VERY old model now -- possibly FS2000 originally --- It sounds like the 1st hurdle is the model itself.

If you are not bothered by no VC then there are quite a few alternatives with panels or specific l1011 panels for FS2004 ...... Just search l1011
