Just found out that this thing installs via Steam.  I don't put crap like that on my computer.

Must say I totally agree with your assessment of Steam  Grin
I have now got Civ V but I haven't had a chance to play it properly yet. It looks really good, a huge improvement on Civ IV!

The hex tiles do take a while to get used to however...

What's so bad about Steam?

I had issues in the past where it wouldn't always load up, but besides from that it was great.

My main problem with it is that it makes compulsory updates to all new games installed, which can often be quite large. For example Napoleon Total War has to download several Gb of updates before it is playable. While for some people it's fine, it's not for everyone... Sad

I have to say, what is so bad about Steam? Sure I would rather not have to use ti to play certain games but it is a good online service

Well, I did get it, and it's pretty good. Pretty graphics intensive if you don't switch it to strategic mode, but still fun.

Thats what I do as much as possible Smiley However when first installed it is compulsory to go online and it automatically installs all the neccessary updates... It is possible to turn automatic updates off, but only once it's installed and done the first update.

Must say a plus however is that activation is linked to your account not the computer which is handy Smiley
