WINNERS, WINNERS, WINNERS

Judge SeanTK says :

"My JC choices:"

XxRazgrizxX!!

...

"Very cool idea! I love the angle, and lighting conditions, and the action in this shot is simply great! You presented a very unique situation that really stood out above the other civilian cruisers."

CONGRATULATIONS XxRazgrizxX !!!!

"Skoker takes second place!"

...

"The crispness and color usage in this shot really stood out. Although the angle of the shot is rather traditional, this image shows that it does not matter in the least. The background cloud formations/sky conditions look great, and the use of a red plane on a generally neutral background really makes it pop out!"

Third place is for Bob70!

...

"I like how you managed to get a wide angle show with minimal distortion of the aircraft. The background environment looks rugged yet still inviting, and the path towards the camera that the contrails highlight is pretty neat in my opinion."

To me the contrails give the shot a sense of motion. Thats why I was at a high altitude to produce them.
Turboprops do and can make contrails.  That holds true for props also. Piston Aircraft, whose exhaust are cooler still can make contrails. Look at WWII footage of the bomber streams or the battle of Britain and you will see the contrails. So, yes, turboprops can make a contrail.

Powered aircraft of all types will create contrails if conditions are suitable. Turboprops don't generally fly high enough to create them.

I rather like Bob's shot. Smiley

For example, contrails can be made at ground level if it's cold enough.

Attending to the submissions now. Results will be sent within 30 minutes.

UPDATE: Results have been sent to ShaneG as of 8:43pm my time.

Thanks to all who put in an effort in this competition. It was interesting to see what the community could come up with involving an aircraft class that many have a tendency to overlook.  Smiley

A year or two ago, when there used to be 20-30 entries in a single week,
this competition was hot,
and needed to be constantly monitored,
so it was always on time.

Nowadays, it takes 2-3 weeks just to get 10 entries,
and most don't even get that many.  Cry

The JC & the monthly best of comps are in dire need of participation to keep them alive.

This will be the last JC run by the Mods.

The posted winner of this comp, will need to start the next one and handle the posting of it,
unless a volunteer raises his/her hand, and wishes to run it for the masses.

In order to keep it alive, you all will need to run it,
as Mitch & I just don't have the time for it anymore.

You can probably expect the same to occur with the Monthly Best of comps soon, and for the same reasons.

The JCs are one of my favorite things on SimV.
I'd love to run the JC contests, I should be around 90% of the time to do them.

Sad to hear, but like RaptorF22, I spend way to much time here so I'm sure with both of us we could try to keep this alive.

Yes, it is sad. I have noticed, not only a downturn in participation in all the contests except for the big one, but in general posts as well. Of course we get a lot of temporary new members hoping to win the prize in the big

contest, and that's fine. Some of them stay, some don't. Also fine. But many of us joined without any knowledge of contests at all, let alone one with a payware prize. I have learned a lot from the SimV members and I

really appreciate all they have done to help me. I wish participation in all the contests would continue on the level it used to be, but nothing lasts forever. I just have to be glad that some of us will be around as long as Pete

is able to continue hosting. If it weren't for Pete and the mods/admins, we would not have a home. So thanks to one and all for your contributions to the FS community. Smiley

I was waiting for some word from the mods as to who would be hosting the JCs, but I guess we can all just alternate.
One question, who will update the portfolios? Huh
Aside from that, yes, let's get this show on the road! Smiley
