I think the European team will regret not having Justin Rose on the team.

Captain Pavin picks Tiger, Cink, Johnson and Fowler

Quote:
Ending months of speculation, Team USA Captain Corey Pavin completed his 12-man Ryder Cup team on Tuesday by selecting Tiger Woods, Stewart Cink, Zach Johnson and Rickie Fowler with his four captain's picks ...

Pavin's four captain's picks join the eight automatic qualifiers who were announced following the 92nd PGA Championship last month at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wis.: reigning Masters champion Phil Mickelson, Hunter Mahan, Bubba Watson, Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker, Dustin Johnson, Jeff Overton and Matt Kuchar ...

The only suprise is Rickie Fowler...but I like him so I dont take it as a bad thing, but it is a bit of a shocker.

Glad they didnt put Hoffman in...even though he had a good week an all...just dont think he's worthy of a spot.

We need someone to play against Rory McIlroy.  They can play with those 3 foot plastic kids clubs.   Smiley

I agree about Hoffman.  You can't play the "hot" player just because be played well last week.

Young guns battling against eachother will be fun to watch. Tiger defiantly made it easier on Pavin to pick him. He has to finish top 5 this week to make it to the final FedEx Cup tournament...Id love to see him pull it off.

And I would have never thought of putting Hoffman on the team in the first place but after he won he said he hopes this will help him be in consideration to be on the team, which is when I thought that doesnt seem like a good idea to me. Great golfer though.

Woods, McIlroy the early focus in Wales

Quote:
There hasn't been much bulletin board material to this point at the Ryder Cup, but one statement made months ago still resonates.

After Tiger Woods finished at 18-over par at the WGC - Bridgestone Invitational, Irishman Rory McIlroy commented on he would "love to face Woods" at the Ryder Cup.

Woods was asked Tuesday about the comment, and simply said, "Me too."

The world's No. 1 player isn't much for trash talk through the media -- he lets his golf do the talking. How can anyone forget Woods' response to the comments Stephen Ames made in 2006?

Prior to the WGC - Match Play Championship, Ames joked about how Woods was driving the ball all over the place. Woods responded by trouncing Ames by a record 9 & 8 margin.

The Woods/McIlroy subplot has been the biggest of the week so far. Analysts can speculate on who will be paired with whom, but only captains Corey Pavin and Colin Montgomerie know those answers for sure ...

Golf.  Where the scores can change in as few as 20 minutes.  Kick butt and take no prisoners - but allow a gimme every now and then.

I think Tiger will show Rory why he should have never said anything to him. Wink

McIlroy and McDowell EUR
Woods and Stricker USA
Donald and Harrington EUR

USA 1, Europe 1

Yeah thats how I wanted to do it. How about for each group you get right you get a point? So tommorow if all those are correct then you'll get four points. Looks like were the only ones doing this but better than nothing, lets see who wins.  Cool

Heres my picks-

Mickelson and Johnson USA
Stewart Cink and Matt Kuchar USA
Steve Stricker and Tiger Woods USA
Donald and Harrington EUR

They play 2 rounds a day.  Friday's second round is going to start somewhere around 8 am Eastern.

I'm watching a bit of the first round now (3 am) so I doubt I'm going to be able to participate in picking anyone in Friday afternoon's matches.  If they even play considering the horrendous weather.  (Damned Brits did it on purpose!)

I don't think you can "project" a winner based solely on who's winning a match at the time.

Cink and Kuchar are one down through 5 and the Europeans are "projected" to win that match.  That's absurd.

There is only one match on the course that's halfway done but the "projected" score is for Europe to win all 5.

It was on TV every other night but now that I might watch for an hour it's not on until 4am.

Martin Kaymer v Dustin Johnson
Ian Poulter v Matt Kuchar
