www.flightsim.com ---do not go there, why? Not only are forums dreadful but also because there is no such a right as "Freedom of Speech" in the forums

your opinion on this would be great.

Flightsim.com is great for add ons.
I only use that site for the add ons.
Flightsim has some addons that simv does not have, but simv has add ons flightsim does not have

Flight simulator forum memberships show a certain similarity to the teaching hierarchy.  After a certain unspecified amount of time or other requirement, a status similar to 'tenure' is acquired.  This bestows a 'gravitas' on those members, similar to that of a shaman of the Lakota Sioux.  My experience with the mentioned forum has been quite placid, so far but, like all mariners sticking their oars in strange waters, beware of fish that bite  Smiley.

I have no knowledge of the forum you mention so can't comment. Just like to point out that all forums (including this one) are privately owned & the rules are laid down by the webmaster. Freedom of speech does not apply on the Internet.

Same applies for the SimV forums. You are not allowed to write about politics and religions here. Which is a good thing because it keeps the place friendly. But it kills the 'freedom of speech'. Not that I care.

I love the way people bandy around the idea of "Freedom of speech". Nowhere in the world does such a thing exist because "someone" WILL get offended about anything!
No website has freedom of speech, those that claim to tend to be populated by people who have more nostrils than braincells and tend to be full of the obnoxious and abusive behaviour enjoyed by the terminally thick.
Any website, like any other forum of communication, will be restricted to what the owner wishes.
At SimV we're pretty tollerant but experience has shown that certain topics do inflame people easily and cause upset and distress, hence why we don't allow religious or political discussions. That keeps things friendly and fun and lets face it we do rather come here to stay away from the madness that is the "real" world Grin Grin Grin

yes but, freedom of speech doesn't hurt when you talk about music... I just went there and asked what the people's favorite song was and they got ticked off about it.

now is that hardly fair to through a hissy fit over music?

I just checked & can't see a Music forum. Seems to me you're looking for trouble. Tongue

I asked for a music section in the forums... but they said they will not make any music area.

No, I'm not looking for trouble I was just asking about music.

So, first you went to a strictly Flight sim related forum, that has no section for music, and asked everyone what their favorite song was,

but, then what you really did was ask them to put a music section into a Flightsim only forum,

but they told you no, because they're not a music forum.

So you got mad at that, and felt violated, and came to another Flight sim forum,
and told us not to visit that other place, for reasons, that affect no one else but you?  Huh

You are in the wrong place!  You were looking for a music forum when you stumbled in here and got caught up in our wonderful, fun little community.

But wait! We have a music section here! So if you do stick around with us, feel free to ask all the music related questions you want there in that section,  Smiley

that just causes hurt feelings.  Wink

While we are on the subject of "Free Speech"........

A-10, does it not seem at least a little ironic to you that in the pursuit of "free speech" that you suggest people not participate in the speech on that forum because you disagree with what they have to say?   Grin Grin Grin

And SimV's speech policy is dictated by "god" himself:  Pete.  Wink
