It is a long time since I have been on this forum! A friend of mine would like a blast from the past and we would like to play CFS1 online again, when we last played it was 56k modems on the Zone!
Is there anywhere, like the Zone, we can play again?

I play Call of Duty 4 regularly on Gameranger with no problem.Gameranger appears to support CFS1 but I cannot host a game, the same with Gamespy 'Comrade'. We used to play 'Direct IP' as well, but that does not work either. I have read that we may have to configure our routers 'port forwarding' but this is a bit beyond us. Is there a simpler way, or a gameserver I have not heard of?

Hi H, I cant remember raving about WGcentre, but looking at there list of supported games, it appears CFS is not among them.

you can make a search back for a few more links...
I'm restricted to online via a 'time-limited' library access...

I have found that 'Gameranger' http://www.gameranger.com/ support CFS. I have played COD4 succesfully with Gameranger, but I have tried hosting a CFS game with a friend with no luck.It may be that you have to do the port forwarding thing with this particular game  Cry . I have a room up if anyone wants to give it a try, if I am not there, leave a message saying when you will be back.
I will keep the room open daily for a while.

Have you tried using the Sim V Server?

78.46.212.155

I have just loaded up my CFS 2 and connected to the Server with no problems.

(No one else was on line at the time).

I wonder if you BOTH insert the same IP address beforehand, and start at the same airfield, you will both appear in the Chat Window, to confirm that it works?

Hello Ivor...

Many of us use our Sim V Server for our daily FS2002/FS2004/FSX Multiplayer flights, so I thought I would give it a try with CFS 2. and it seemed to work!

Try it with:  78.46.212.155 ....The Sim V server....!

Well I have opened a room, and I will leave it open so a message can be left if I am not there. I do not know if I am connected or not.

~S~ Ivor,

Long time, old chap!

If I remember rightly, you can play CFS1 and 2 on Hyperlobby, provided you make a simple edit to a config file.

Install Hyperlobby, and go to its root directory to find the file:  hlpro.ini

Open it in a text editor (WordPad will do nicely) and change the following lines (set Disable=0 instead of 1):

[Combat Flight Simulator]
Disable=0
Order=8

[Combat Flight Simulator 2]
Disable=0
Order=9

That should do the trick.

When I fly at all these days it's in Il-2, though since getting one of these, I find I manage that about once a year... Wink

...

Give my best to Tele! And let me know if you get up and running - I wouldn't mind revisiting past Hurri glories, too! Wink

All the best,

Pads
