Super Bowl will be in Dolphins' Sun Life Stadium

Quote:
MIAMI — The Miami Dolphins treat stadium names like quarterbacks, changing them often. Beginning this week, the team's home is Sun Life Stadium.

A five-year naming rights agreement with Toronto-based Sun Life Financial was confirmed at a news conference Wednesday at the stadium. The deal is for at least $4 million a year and perhaps more, depending on postseason success for the Dolphins and Florida Marlins, the stadium's baseball tenant through next year.

The name change takes effect in time for Miami's upcoming high-profile NFL games — the Pro Bowl next week, and the Super Bowl on Feb. 7.

It's easier to memorize Roman emperors, English monarchs and American presidents.

To me its always been dolphins stadium or pro players stadium and thats how it will remain.
Mile high will always be mile high
and so on.
These stupid names are pointless and most fans refer to their stadiums by their long running traditional name anyway.

The locals call it Joe Robbie Stadium.

As a Miami resident, I was fine with "Dolphin Stadium" and that's the way it oughta be.  Every time a new owner buys it, they gotta go through this name change thing.  It's ridiculous and gets old.

So now we gotta put up with a plug to Sun Life Financial when it's the team that really deserves it.

Yeah, that's it, I'd like to see every die-hard Dolfan next season go in with signs that say "It'll always be Dolphin Stadium to us".

I wonder if other ballparks around the U.S. have gone through name changes like this.
