The season has started and what a start!!!!!!!!!

Post your pregame highlights!   Post your predictions!!!  Post shots of your tail gate party!!!

Post your rants, raves, complaints!! Post your results...will your team make it to the champs?  Root for your team here, but let's keep it professional, same SimV rules apply as always gents.  Keep it fun and keep it professional.   Cool

My two teams won!  Michigan managed keep their head up against Western Michigan, not a big win but if you look at Michigan's recent games this one counts!

Alabama came through and managed to beat Virginia Tech in a gruesome battle.  My wife is a graduate of Alabama and I will soon be attending Bama as a student so I have become a pretty hard core fan of the Tide.

The Bama-VTech game was a head snapper.  Wasn't sure if we were going to win this one, the score went back and forth, but we came through in the end and the Tide rolled.  Cool

East Carolina steamrolled Appalachian State in the first half of their game, but barely kept the lead in the second. ECU's playing style has always been like that, score a bunch in the first half and then get overconfident in the second and either win by a little, or lose by a little. (But I'm still happy they won.) Cheesy

Was gunna start one but I didn't think we had alot of College Football fans here  Grin

Well im a HUGE Cal fan...
and they dominated this week...

Jahvid Best (heisman canidate) rushed for 80 yds and 2 tds in less than 2 minutes of the game.  Shocked Of course we smashed Maryland 52-13. Im happy our QB passed for 4 tds, and 250 yds so I know we have some good receivers.

Well now that #3 Oklahoma lost and VT lost hopefully Cal can move into the top 10!  Cheesy

Here's this years Hiesman Watch-
http://espn.go.com/college-football/heisman09/index
Well we all know Bradford is gunna fall when he misses 2-4 weeks.  Smiley

They say this is the year Cal can beat USC!  Cheesy

There is also a College Football Challenge, which is like fantasy football, except you get to use all players, instead of ones you draft. http://games.espn.go.com/cfc/en/splash
I've created a group for that one, also. Same info as above. http://games.espn.go.com/cfc/en/group?groupID=8010

Damn.

Such a good game to watch. Both offenses were so explosive in the second half. Shocked
I have to say, sorry but the Freshman kicker did something I thought no College kicker would ever do. His first PAT attempt was HORRIBLE.  Grin Then the second he hit the post and barely made it. But what was amazing is how he can make a 51 yard field goal and a 45 or something which could have been 10 more yards longer with his leg.

Wow, I would have never thought Stanford would win...but both Washington and Washington State teams were really bad last year.  Undecided They need to rebuild although Washington had a good game against LSU. There team looks alot stronger than last year.

Byu moved up 13 spots to #9 with Oklahoma going down 10 spots to #13.

Well, both of my teams won today, another good day at Truck's house even though I worked 12 hours today training reservists.

Michigan had a good lead, lost the lead as usual (dumbasses)  but managed to gain it back, only to lose it AGAIN!!!  In a stroke of luck with 11 seconds left we managed to get a touchback for the win  Shocked

Go Blue!

Bama!!!!  Rough first half, but that second half they pulled their heads out and kicked it in high gear (Saban must have reamed them good at halftime lol)

Roll Tide  Cool

Bama 2-0    (1 win against a top ten team...unlike Texas...)
Michigan 2-0

Technically, there was only one "upset" in the Top 10, as USC was favored. My team dominated again. A little slow start, but by the 2nd quarter we were clicking. UF 56, Troy 6.

Well I didnt mean that was an upset I could have remembered another top 10 team lossing but they might have just been lossing and I didnt see the final score.  Roll Eyes
My mistake..

Although the new rankings are up http://espn.go.com/college-football/rankings

Hopefully Cal can keep there season good, and this year is the year to BEAT USC!  Cheesy

Just walked back to my dorm after the Penn State vs Temple game. Penn State predictably won, although we came out slow in the first half. (Final Score: 31 - 6)
All of the home games after today should be interesting. We're facing Iowa here next Saturday evening, followed by Minnesota, then Ohio State.
Eastern Illinois is in there somewhere too, but that's another cupcake/easy game.

USC Shocked Shocked Shocked
A poor game from Texas later and I could see Bama jumping to number 1. Florida looked poor against Tennessee. And Bama dominated (as they should). So I would find it hard to see why they dont get the 1 spot.

I'm looking forward to that game when it happens.
This is a much better Bama team, against a depleted Florida.
I would like to see Texas and Penn state face some real opponents soon. I know Texas have Oklahoma at some point, that could be the game that decides if there is another team in the nation in contention for the national championship. Right now though I cant see another team really even close to those two. SEC championship and national championship? that would be fun.

More upsets in the making.

FSU is looking very strong at BYU.  30-14 at the half.

Arkansas over #23 Georgia 21-10 after one quarter.

West Virginia/Auburn is still stuck in some sort of weather delay and hasn't even started yet.

Well I thought all along that BYU was overrated...I actually think they are good. I just didnt think they should have been #7. If they drop in the #10-15 then I will think that is the right place they should be. They shouldnt have been so low just because of an upset between Oklahoma when Oklahoma had an injured QB who the team practically rely's on.

Not to be mean to BYU fans... Wink Well now that 2 top 10 teams been upset Cal should move up 2 to #6 hopefully or #5 Cheesy

A terrific weekend of football!!!  I was on guard duty so I missed most games, but I did enjoy watching USC lose  Cool  Bama, a terrific football team this year, we'll see if they can hold it together, Saban needs to keep their heads out of their butts.

We hit #3 this week, not bad, things will change when top ten teams start playing other top ten teams (ahem TEXAS)

Michigan finally made the power rankings, tying their winning record from last year (LMAO in disgust)  Hope they can at least pull a bowl game this year.  I'll let you link an image if they win the Champs  Grin

Well im a bit worried about Cal they played a close one against Minnesota  Roll Eyes...

Although I have noticed over the years that Cal can struggle badly away. Jahvid Best though saved our team and im happy we dont have to play Oregon at Oregon  Shocked. They say now after Cal's performance that they might not beat USC but after how USC has played in their last 3 games im sure they will take that back. Still have hope.

Texas Tech was so close  Sad Cry...

Although what I dont really get is how Jahvid Best didn't move up in the Heisman Watch. He got 5 rushing TD's and another 100+ yard game and he stays at #3 with Tim Tebow still on top (even though he threw for 0 PASSING TD'S!) and Colt McCoy?!?!

Is it the Heisman or the Popularity contest  Roll Eyes...if you look at the stats right now Best should be on top or at least 2nd.

You non-SEC people just don't get it.

The SEC is the most awesome conference in college football.

The SEC has 4 teams in the the top 7 in the country.

The only team that can beat a good SEC team is another SEC team.

It is unfortunate that LSU, Mississippi and Alabama will lose at least one game.  But they will lose to other SEC teams.  They will not lose to non-SEC teams.

At the end of the year undefeated Florida will play for the national championship against some lame Big-8 or Big-12 team.  Florida will win by 14 points.

Alabama will play in a bowl game against another lame Big-8 or Big-12 team, its only loss being against Florida in the SEC Championship game.  Alabama will win by 21 points.

Roll Eyes  After watching Florida play Tenn I got a feeling Bama will put them in their place... Grin  Ole Miss might be a challenge, but Florida looks weak this year, we'll see...Texas?  Piece of cake, I think it will be a sleeper team this year that beats Bama.  (if anyone beats us...)

As a Penn State student and fan, I think I can safely say that we are overrated.

Our football schedule is usually pathetic up until the final few games, with the only usual challenges being Ohio State and possibly either of the Michigans depending on whether or not it is home or away. (Having the largest student section in the nation does affect the gameplay.)

And going along with Webb's comment, we would get our butts handed to us vs an SEC team even with home field advantage.

Not really sure how Penn State could fix this problem, but at least we'll get a little bit more good out of conference experience next year and in the following years. ('Bama away game next year, followed by home game year after. more exposure to Nebraska, etc.)

Interesting..no one has brought up Cal... Roll Eyes Shocked Grin

Cal is sneaking in and nobody knows it... Grin Cheesy (From #12-#6)

I think that if Cal beats USC more people should be scared because from then on they can easily go undefeated maybe even playing in the National Championship. Wink

I would like to say that overall last year I think the Pac-10 did the best. They were undefeated in bowl games 5-0. Just what I think... Grin Grin

Cry
Horrible game today...
twice I saw Cal get turnovers then right after that turn it back over. Kevin Riley overthrew the WR's to many times and Jahvid Best wasnt having such a good rushing game because our Offensive Line was doing absolutely nothing. Kevin Riley could barely stay in the pocket so when we rushed it went nowhere.

Next week is a must win. Cal has very tough times on the road as you can tell we almost lost to Minnesota last week but came back and this week we got smashed by Oregon at one of the loudest stadiums in college.

Next week at Cal, so im a little bit more confident about that but I think Cal might have been more focused on next week than this week. Its not over yet, but I hope Cal wont bump down to far in the BCS since Oregon isnt that bad. Sad

Gators' Tebow taken to hospital after hard hit

Quote:
LEXINGTON, Ky. — With three minutes and 57 seconds left in the third quarter of Florida's 41-7 win against Kentucky on Saturday night, Gators quarterback Tim Tebow was on his back, motionless after taking a hit from Wildcats' defensive end Taylor Wyndham.

The crowd was silent. Team doctors surrounded the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner. The entire Gator team lined an area just a few yards away, watching. Finally, Tebow sat up — to the relief of the crowd, teammates and opponents. Early in the fourth quarter, Tebow was taken out of the stadium on a cart and was later taken to the hospital to have a CAT scan.

Sad news, doesnt seem like he has been having a good week I was reading on ESPN that him and some other teammates got ill from an airplane ride or something like that and that he was still gunna play today even with his illness.

Michigan managed another victory, the Tide rolled as usual, and TEBOW GOT SPANKED!!

Yeah Florida won by a huge margin, but do you know how satisfying it was to see Tebow get laid out?!?!?  We rewound it 6 times on the DVR lmao.   Of course ESPN made it their headline, and I heard Tebow's name every 30 seconds until the game ended (he's not that good guys, Florida managed just fine without him)

Still waiting for Texas to play a rated team and get their ass whooped   Grin  Hook'em horns my ass  Angry  ROLL TIDE and GO BLUE!

I dont think he meant it in a bad way Webb but Tim Tebow did get rocked pretty hard...and you cant blame anyone because that was a clean hit.

Welll #5 Penn State losses to Iowa. Makes me even more pissed off knowing both #4 and #5 both lost which would have put Cal in even better position but #6 Cal lost to  Angry.

Ah I stoped watching second quater yelling at the TV.  Grin
And that put me in a such a bad mood I didnt want any other games! Only Wisconsin and Cal today.  Angry

Ugh...that Penn State game was rough. I think everyone here has aching throats just from yelling at our own team. Our defense performed fine (most Iowa points were scored against our offense unfortunately), but all aspects of our offensive line just were not with it yesterday. Multiple interceptions, too much QB pressure, etc.  Sad

Needless to say, there were quite a few thousand angry (and violent) Penn State fans leaving in the rain yesterday.

Alabama without question are the best team in Football. The most balanced without a doubt. They've faced a highly ranked team to start. a tough conference foe and despatched them with ease, and they are still 3rd in the rankings behind a team who rely far to much on one player to win, and a team who've faced no-one yet.
Texas have an easy schedule the whole way so unless they suffer a meltdown they should be in the National title game, and it would appear once again Florida and Bama will have to fight it out for the 2nd spot despite both being a whole level better.
I am slightly nervous about LSU, they are definitly a sleeper and could throw a spanner in the works.
This should be the definitive year for showing why a playoff system is needed. How many top 10 ranked teams have now been knocked down because of losses to less ranked/unranked teams?

I agree with you on everything. The BCS standings show that it is really stupid. Not just because im pissed about Cal but for an example when BYU beats Oklahoma because they have an injured Sam Bradford for them to move up to #9 and be in the top 10 when I thought was overrated which is why they lost.

I think on an average about 3 teams in the top 10 have lost and got bumped out if I remember correctly. I dont really think that Cal should have been so low as #6 but they shouldn't be all the way back at #24.  Angry

Its only been 4 weeks so I wouldnt worry about Texas, I hope they lose to an unranked team and see how far they will bump them.  Angry
For you Alabama lovers, im sure your all happy about Tim Tebows concussion (not sure if its going to keep him out) but that might be bad news for Florida fans. Next week is a MUST win for Cal or else this season is a throw away and the only thing ill look forward to is the Hiesman Watch.  Sad

Neither Florida nor Alabama has had to face an evenly matched opponent.

Florida had a weak first half against Tennessee but that's the only criticism I have.  Alabama hasn't played a tough schedule to date but is beating its opponents (including Arkansas) by huge margins.

Florida lucked out and gets next week off (time for Tebow to heal although it looks like his injuries weren't that severe) but has to play at LSU on October 10.  That's their toughest opponent until Alabama.

Alabama plays LSU at home on November 7.  After Florida beats LSU they won't be #4 any more but they will still be formidable.

Other than playing LSU and each other I don't see anything standing in the way of either team going undefeated.

My pick (duh) Florida, but I think last year's team was better.

Game of the week this week SHOULD have been Cal v.s. USC but now with Cals drop Coach Tedford better get my Bears this win or you wont be seeing alot of posts from me anymore...only for Jahvid Best. Cool

I'd say though Bama facing virgina tech was as close to even as you'd get for any of the top teams. Tech now have beaten 2 ranked opponents.

I Think Florida right now lack a true threat at receiver.
Last year Bama were so worried about Harvin that they seemed to completely forget the rest of the team, despite the fact harvin wasn't even close to 100%. And that cost them the SEC championship last year. I think the Defense isn't quite as good right now. Didn't they lose quite a few starters?

He isn't that good, he can't pass, he runs 75% of his plays, that won't cut it in the pros, that's why he is still in college football.  His team works well with him, making him look terrific, and he can lead, which is a huge part of the game, but still, he's lacking a big quality, and that's his passing game.  He's successful, but commentators are making him into a legend...

TCCO, you are right sir, but give them a few weeks, you will hear them compare Tebow to Crosby *GAG*

Exactly thats how I feel he wont make it in the pros.

I love how everybody goes crazy over Crosby when Ovechkin is ten times better personally Ovechkin is underrated  in my opinion.

On Tebow.
Just look at other QB's coming from the college game with simmilar styles.
Jamarcus russel. Couldn't hit a barn door at 10 feet.
Michael Vick. Couldn't hit a barn at 10 feet.
Marcus Vick, had to be moved to completely different position, then blew it.
Donovan Mcnabb, had to work very hard to get out of the run first mentality, and now seems to pay for it with injuries.
Vince Young. Well we all know how thats worked out.

Far too many big college's still produce the option QB without at least teaching the basic fundamentals of getting ready for a pro career. The big talk was Tebow would stay in college so he could spend this year learning to be a more productive passer. Learn the skills for being a pro QB. I haven't seen it yet. It still takes him half a qtr to go through the throwing motion. He still runs when there are receivers open, and he still couldn't hit a tower block if he was stood inside the thing.
The big new craze of the Wildcat in the NFL is over almost already because unlike college. The Pro's are just to smart and to quick to let it beat them once they are ready for it.
New England last year weren't, but now its become part of a defenses game plan, its going no where.

Your right about the wildcat. This past Sunday against the Chargers... it may have started to work... but the Chargers defense made their adjustments and pretty much took away the wildcat threat. Of course the Dolphins QB got hurt, but he wasnt part of the wildcat anyways.

Im with a few others here, I dont think Tebow is all that good. He can run... but as said already, that does not translate well in the NFL. Let the RB's do the running. I just get so sick of hearing Tebow this, Tebow that... the greatest college QB ever. Sure buddy, if it makes you feel better to say that, go ahead.

Oh, and what is with Florida scheduling all these mickey mouse teams to play?

That was a tough loss.

I see a throw away year for Florida State too.

Bobby Bowden should have retired on the upswing.  Now everyone hates him.

Joe Pa is better than you.  Get over it.  Being the second best coach in NCAAF isn't that bad.  It's like the guy that can't ever beat Tiger Woods (Phil Mickelson).

Yeah well once you lose to Oregon and get kicked down 18 spots I can see why Cal didnt play how they were when they started. All I can look forwarrd to is a bowl game now ? Grin
Jahvid Best is practically out of the heisman now and we are 3-2 out of the top 25 with no hope for the pac-10 at this rate.

Just a big bummer. I mean this makes me not want to watch college as much I mean I barely watch NFL because im a huge huge Rams fan and look at them they are the joke of the NFL now being called the new Lions.  Undecided

I heard ESPN say that the 49ers-Rams game this week is going to be a practice session for the 49ers.  Angry

Florida looked pretty sloppy, missing field goals and 4th and inches opportunities, but managed to whip #4 LSU in Baton Rouge 13-3.

The national championship is starting to shape up.

If #2 Texas can stay undefeated they're in.

#1 Florida will probably play #3 Alabama in the SEC Championship, knocking Alabama out of contention.

The next best team is #4 Virginia Tech.  I don't know how good Texas is (I'll have to start watching them) but I'd bet that Florida or Alabama or Texas could beat VaTech by about 20 points.  No one else has a chance.

Bama have finally Jumped Texas for the number 2 spot. About time.
In all fairness Florida have finally earned their place at number 1. I still think Bama are the better team, but beating LSU at least makes Florida a legit #1 now.

Ah thats right. I wasnt saying that in the way as they havent played anyone good just ive never paid attention to them so I was wondering how they kicked out Texas.  Wink

I remember watching some of the Ole Miss game this weekend in the Clubhouse at the golf course and I saw the pregame.

Best matchup this week Oklahoma v.s. Texas! Finally Texas can fail!  Grin

Yeah at least in the top 10.  Embarrassed I think these BCS polls are ridiculous. Its just starting to get stupid with some teams shouldn't even have been where they were. Like Cal probably shouldn't have been #6 maybe #8 or 9. Just like BYU, I did not think they should have been where they were.

But on the bright side at least Texas can lose so everyone can stop talking about how they are going to play in the national championship with Florida.  Roll Eyes

Rankings

AP Top 25
1. Alabama
2. Florida
3. Texas
3. USC

USA Today Poll
1. Florida
2. Alabama
3. Texas
4. USC

The BCS will probably rank Texas #1 just to stick it to the SEC.

Theres my point as to why they are a joke. They will fail just like Cal did and explode down the rankings. They always do this every year go like undefeated and what not because they never challenge real college football teams just like last year 9-0 and then got SMASHED in the bowl game because they had to face a real football team.

No I hope they dont. Florida State already has 4 losses this season not even played Florida or Clemson? I mean there a good football team and to already have 4 losses im surprised. Whata bad year for them.

Oh wow I would have thought Alabama would have dropped although I didnt really want them to but I find that very suprising usually when teams come close like that to an unranked team they will drop even for pulling out a win.

Still have a shot to beat Florida. Smiley

I would give up a stripe to see NCAA football actually use a playoff system instead of this stupid rankings system they use.  So many teams get short changed.

I would love to see them make the switch. I actually last season liked the BCS for the bowl games I liked the idea teams but it kinda made it clear when the super bowl came around watching pre game them saying if the Cardinals were in NCAA they would not be in the super bowl right now.

Then looking this year at how stupid the rankings get just totally turned my idea of liking it around, not for Cal but ive seen teams drop when they won? Ive seen teams not drop that far for lossing to teams that are HORRIBLE. I saw WASHINGTON IN THE TOP 25 FOR AN UPSET! I mean really.  Roll Eyes We can go on and on and on about how stupid it is.

He regrets his decision... Roll Eyes

Serouisly now I mean hell he HAD to have WANTED to do that. It wasnt a mistake that came into his mind to shove his hand into someones helmet like that to poke his eyes. But then the player said he thought Spikes shouldn't have got suspended because "they are playing football"...

Shows you what these athletes are turning into...football is nothing about shoving someones hand in another players helmet to gouge there eyes under no circumstances is that football or acceptable. Angry

NCAA should take more action is my thought. I see an NFL future suspension from these people.

I've gotta say even as a Bama fan, LSU are really getting the rough end of the calls today. Facemasks the INT that was but wasn't.
I cant help but wonder if the new rule for questioning the refs in public has them now calling the games a little differently. Lips Sealed (expecting an SEC fine on my door in a week or two) Cheesy

None of the 6 remaining undefeated teams lost so there won't be much a shakeup (that counts) in the BCS.

Expect some whining among #15-25.

Not a big upset week. Gosh I cant wait till Boise State plays a ranked team. Seems like the only opponent they had this year was Oregon which did uterly horrible against Boise State only.

How about Stanford!!! Beat USC and OREGON! They SMASHED USC! I laughed so hard seeing that score. Not sure how they can score 55 points on Stanford.

No surprises so far in Week 13:

#6 Boise State 52
Utah State 21

in the 4th quarter. Utah State looked tough for a while and had it tied at 14-14 just before halftime but Boise State figured out the defense for a rout.

Dull weekend for the SEC and BCS.

Florida has a 43 point walkover over FIU in The Swamp.
Alabama at Chattanoga (is that even going to be on TV?) - OFF the books.
Texas at Kansas by 27.

The Gators need to rest up for next week's Seminole Invasion.

Yeah it was on TV...I felt sorry for Chattanooga, Saban found a good chance to play his rookies and prep them for next year since we will be losing some of our star players and such...

I'm sorry Chattanooga, I can't imagine it was even fun to play  Embarrassed

two possible trap games for the 1 and 2's
Iron Bowl for Bama, never a gimme when playing Auburn.
Florida state for Florida, again not exactly a gimme.
I am expecting those two though to win out.

Going to be a tough match against Auburn, they have a killer rush this year and from what I read their running game isn't something to joke about either.  Should be a good game.  I'm more concerned about meeting Florida on the 5th though.

FSU coach Bobby Bowden to retire after bowl game

Quote:
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida State coach Bobby Bowden will end his 44-year coaching career after the Seminoles play in a bowl game.

Bowden will retire as the second winningest coach in major-college football behind Penn State's Joe Paterno. The 80-year-old Bowden has won 388 games in his career at Samford, West Virginia and Florida State, where he spent the last 34 seasons.

"We've got one more game and I look forward to enjoying these next few weeks as the head football coach," Bowden said Tuesday in a statement released by the school.

Bowden won two national titles with Florida State, in 1993 and 1999. Among his top achievements was a string of 14 straight seasons ending in 2000 when the Seminoles won at least 10 games and finished ranked in the top five of the AP poll.

Florida State was 152-19-1, an .864 winning percentage, during that span.

"He set records of achievement on the field that will probably never be equaled," university president T.K. Wetherell said. "Bobby Bowden in many ways became the face of Florida State. It was his sterling personality and character that personified this university."

FSU officials announced after the 2007 season that offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher would succeed Bowden.

A good man, he served Fl State well, brought them to the peak for a while there, but age takes it's toll, he did the right thing, here's to a successful career coach!!!!  (not a FL State fan, but respect earned is respect due)

The final polls are dribbling in. AP Poll:

1 Alabama 13-0
2 Texas 13-0
3 TCU 12-0
4 Cincinnati 12-0
5 Florida 12-1
6 Boise State 13-0

If you gave Florida the referees that Texas had we'd beat 4 of those teams.

I honestly wish the Alabam Florida game would have finished close, with Texas losing to Nebraska.
That would have given us the likely chance of a rematch of Florida Bama in the national championship. It wont matter who matches up with who. Florida will beat handly whomever they play. Bama are going to beat Texas, in what I feel will be a bigger gap than the SEC champ game. Same with cinnci, same with Boise st and TCU. Simple fact is, its Alabama, Florida, then a large gap to the rest.

Alabama RB Ingram wins Heisman Trophy

Quote:
Alabama running back Mark Ingram has won the 2009 Heisman Trophy, college football's most prestigious honor.

It was the closest voting ever for the award and the first Heisman Trophy in Alabama's storied history. Ingram edged Stanford running back Toby Gerhart by just 28 points; Texas quarterback Colt McCoy finished third, Nebraska defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh fourth and Florida quarterback Tim Tebow fifth.

Forgot about Ingram this morning. Im happy he won although it would have been an honor for Stanford to have a heisman winner since they're football team hasn't done well in years until this year.

Well good for him, im happy he won but I wouldnt be dissapointed if Gerhart (I think thats his name) won because I suspect Ingram to be back up there next year or if he stays senior year also.

Urban Meyer stepping down

Quote:
Urban Meyer is stepping down as coach of the Florida football team, athletics director Jeremy Foley announced Saturday afternoon in a release.

"I have given my heart and soul to coaching college football and mentoring young men for the last 24-plus years and I have dedicated most of my waking moments the last five years to the Gator football program," Meyer said in statement. "I have ignored my health for years, but recent developments have forced me to re-evaluate my priorities of faith and family.

"After consulting with my family, Dr. Machen, Jeremy Foley and my doctors, I believe it is in my best interest to step aside and focus on my health and family.

"I'm proud to be a part of the Gainesville community and the Gator Nation and I plan to remain in Gainesville and involved with the University of Florida.

"I'm very appreciative for the opportunity I've had to be a part of a tremendous institution - from Dr. Machen to Jeremy Foley and the entire administrative staff at UF. I'm also very thankful for the chance to work with some of the best assistants in college football and coach some of the best college football players and watch them grow both on and off the field as people. I will cherish the relationships with them the most."

Meyer will coach his last game for Florida against Cincinnati on Jan. 1 at the Sugar Bowl.

Wow.

Part of me is thinking, has he stepped down because, florida has now lost some of its best players, while teams like: Alabama, LSU, Tennessee are all becoming powerhouses. Get out while he's still on top and save the stress of a possible tough 2010.

Either way, a great coach.

The Humanitarian Bowl. This is why you need to stock up on beer and watch every single bowl game.

Bowling Green and Idaho on that blue field at Boise State.

Idaho scores a TD with 4 seconds left.  A one point conversion will tie, a two point conversion will win.

What would you do?

Cincinnati 10

Looks like you are right, she was thinking of this campus...

http://www.troy.edu/

But after reviewing your link and checking out the sports section it was indeed the Texas Troy.  Either way, a Michigan team won a bowl game.

Karma.  Texas would have lost to Nebraska had the clock not been reset after the game was over.

One more Alabama TD and I won't bother watching the 4th quarter.

I wouldn't go there yet, as hard as I'm rooting for Bama, Texas just turned it up a notch with a TD and an onside kick...

I felt bad for Gilbert for a little while, but he's holding his own now and Texas defense isn't going to go without a fight.  Tide need to crank it up again and increase that buffer!

There's a Red Wings game on right now that I am dying to watch but I can't change the channel LOL!

I'll admit it sucks what happened to McCoy, and I felt bad for Gilbert, but Texas didn't let that affect them, they made Bama work for it!  Still 2 minutes left and a close game.  I'll admit I thought we were going to kick their ass, but now I'm biting nails haha.

Interception.  Game.  I still feel bad for Gilbert, I don't even think he shaves yet, and he was thrown into the biggest college game of the year.  Either way, Tide Rolled.

I'm going up to my cave to watch the Wings.

Hold on, another touchdown for Bama, and Saban just got SLAMMED by the gatorade cooler.

Dummy kicker decided to shank the extra point, whatever.  I'm going to go watch hockey.

Initial reports are that Colt McCoy has a pinched nerve and will make a full recovery.

It will be fun watching him in the NFL.

Fantastic game. I think Bama got a little too lazy once they had their lead. I feel sorry for the Texas QB who took over from McCoy, of all the places to have to come in, a national championship is bad enough, but to have to go against the Bama defense, I'd have probably said no thanks and found a seat in the stands.
