Hey guys,

can anyone give me some insights on how to use LEDs to light up my panel. Stuff like wiring, resistors, batteries, etc...

Nout,

Are you talking about backlighting panels so that lettering and such is illuminated?

Also... see the "Resources" stickies on the top of the forum.  I think there is a LED tutorial up there.

best,

I have found that you can buy 12 volt LED,s in various forms and shapes at automotive shops. It is easy to get an adaptor for wall current to 12 volt DC. I have several 12 Volt LED's in use in my
simpit for back lighting and also reading lights fot charts and airport info.

Thanks a lot, do you mind posting some pictures on the forum to give me more of an insight on how you used and built these LEDs?

Just don't exceed the ratings for the LED. I blew one in class a couple weeks ago...lol Grin

It was only a small 2v diode, but it did make a nice pop when I accidentally put well over 10 volts across it.... Grin

That's what god made current limiting resistors for.   Grin Grin Grin

You're right, I did have a current limiting resistor in series with the diode, but I accidentally shorted it. Who knows how far past the maximum forward current rating I went, vaporizing those poor little light electrons... Grin
