I can't find CFS1 in the Add/Remove list and there is no uninstall.exe in my CFS1 folder!

If it's installed & working there should be an Uninstall option on the CD.

I don't know why you wish to uninstall CFS1 but it's such a comparatively small program it shouldn't make much difference to leave it.

Haven't played CFS1 for a long time.  My CFS1 folder did NOT contain the CombatFS.exe.  The CD does not contain an un-install selection.    BTW, I changed PCs 4 yrs ago moving from W98 to XP.  I know I installed CFS1 then 'cause the CFS1 folder exists.  I also installed (or did I?) a no-crack so I wouldn't have to use the CD.  So, I don't know what I have now!!

The program can't run without combatfs.exe. If you really want to remove it I don't think deleting the complete CFS1 directory folder would do any harm.

Tried that an XP aborts the attempt using Explorer saying the file or folder is being used!!
BTW, thanks for helping me with this.

Strange. Make sure it's not open in another window.

What size is your CFS1 directory? Right-click on the folder & select Properties. Mine is a full install with a few addons. It adds up to a grand total of 231 MB. Hardly worth worrying about.

185 mb.  BTW, in your install is there an Un-install in the folder?  Or, if you insert the CD do you see an un-install selection?  How 'bout your in your Add/Remove list?

185 Mb is even less worth the bother. IMHO
I've seen some addons for the later sims bigger than that.

To answer your question I have a fully functional version of CFS1 installed. This has both COMBATFS.EXE & uninstal.exe in the root directory folder. It's also listed in the Add/Remove options.

I'm sure I could delete this directory if I wished. I can't think of a reason why you can't remove yours unless it's open in another window.

Well, thanks for listening.  I'll play around with it.  I just installed (or re) the CFS NO_CD patch(?) and it put the CombatSF.exe and it's un-install in the CFS folder so I'll see what happens.  BTW, if I try this new uninstall.exe, it appears to only un-install the cracked CombatSF.exe. but not the complete game installation.  Maybe that's what I did years ago!!
Thanks again and I'll let this thread end.

The uninstal.exe 'disk' size is 320kb and the Combatfs.exe size is only 160kb. If Hagar has three or more aircraft added to his hangar, the 46mb difference is fairly well covered -- not much missing. Also, as Hagar stated, the program won't run without Combatfs.exe although it will still run if the  Combatfs.exe is renamed and opened (thus I have Korea CFS.exe, WW1.exe, Wake CFS.exe, etc.).

If properly installed, there should be an uninstal.exe in the main folder; if not properly installed, inserting the CD should result in an install window -- there is no seperate uninstall on the CD (it's incorporated in the setup engine, thus available only after an acknowledged install).

The NoCD patch is only a replacement Combatfs.exe and its accompanying uninstall, as you state, only uninstalls it -- nothing else.

Quite, it wouldn't, as long as you delete any shortcuts so that you don't get any error message should you click onto one (without the Combatfs.exe you'd already have been getting one, anyway).
