I've just thought of a way to load up more ammo and fuel (although some airfeilds have refueling areas/boxes anyway) in a CFS2 mission! If you respawn the player flight you'll have full fuel and ammo. You'll also start at the first WP again.

Has anyone actually used this way before?

Anyone interested in this?

That's not quite what I'd like but, if I could have one CFS1 improvement:
I've run out of ammo in missions and wound up with an enemy acft or so circling about after I landed back at base (have occcasioned to foil their attacks in the WW2 scenario by taxiing between hangers until they were taken out by flak, which seemed like an eternity as I let the computer sit while I did other things) and it would be nice if ground crew could reload me while I sat there. There are also times I ran out of ammo and made it back to base while the rest of the flight were still in combat; if I could but reload (re-fueling would be nice, too), I'd head back across the channel and help them out rather than end the mission (or opt for "unlimited" if I'm not flying campaign).
In the single mission scenario I can cheat by accessing the options and change to "unlimited ammo" but that's not an accurate loading -- not that I'd use that much against one or two attackers.

I was aware of that but this particular forum isn't restricted to only one CFS version: if it can be applied to CFS1 it should, thereby, be applicable to CFS2 and CFS3 as well 8)!

I know, but this method was intended for CFS2 only and will only work in CFS2. But I tried it and it won't let you respawn the player flight, so this method is junk for all now. Cry

i enjoy long walks on the beach, yummie thai food, and obliterating my enemy's aircraft around them with a hail of bullets from 12 .50s. and/or a 75mm cannon.

Some 3rd party airfields have refuelling points marked with yellow squares like in FS. I haven't tried it but I assume you can land & refuel.

Bill Potvin also created a Refueling/Dump gauge for CFS1 & CFS2.

PS. Check out CFSII Stock Fields Fuel and ADF add-on by Steve McClelland here. http://www.simviation.com/cfs2scenery1.htm

In CFS2 when I want to simulate reloading on the ground during the mission I instruct the player to land  then follow these steps:

1) Press ALT
2) Click on Aircraft
3) Click on Change/Modify Aircraft
4) Click OK

This resets all your ammo to full loads including bombs, rockets, etc.  The sim pauses while you do this then starts right up where you left off.  So if you are in a dogfight you can land, reload and take off to get back into the thick of things.

Of course you can also do this while flying but landing first is more realistic.
