Hi MoonRanker - Welcome to the dingy world of tweaking!  Wink

I think before we can help you much the we need more specs of your rig - take a look at my sig and include as much of that kind of thing as you can!

Quote:
32mb Intel 82810 graphic controller

I'm thinking that that's going to be an integrated chip on your motherboard? If so then that's probably what's holding you back the most. Without specs of at least your CPU and mobo then I can't say for sure.

From the kind of FPS your experiencing I wouldn't think your going to get to 15fps or more without spending a little money, but it needn't be a huge amount!

Always happy to help, so PM me if you need anything that you haven't put in here!

You should be glad you can get 1 -2 fps on that kind of "video card".

You have an integrated graphics solution. What you need to do is buy a new video card.

I suggest a 6600 gt.  A gig of ram would also be very helpful.

BTW, you need to give us more useful specs. The screen resolution and color depth doesn't help us one bit.

Here's what you need to tell us:
CPU brand and model number
memory amount and type (ddr, ddr2 etc.)
video card
mobo model and brand (if possilbe)
Operating system

You might be able to get a little more fps if you turn down the resolution and reduce all the video settings to their lowest.

With that computer?

I'd ebay a GeForce4 MX420 (PCI or AGP? Probably no AGP slot considering the current graphics) for like 15 bucks or less, and that would improve a lot. That, adn double you RAM to 512, and you should be good to go until you upgrade to something that comes with more than 256 MB of RAM.

My guess? You have a Celeron 400

How close am I?

256mb DDR
32mb intell 82810 graphic controoler  (is this the video card?)
intel celron progesser

On my ram i cant get any higher then 256, becasue my ram is pc100mhz. And they only come in 128mb ram.

Your current card (the Intel Controller is your 'card') isn't a card, it is built into the motherboard. However, if you open your computer up and look at the motherboard, you should see a couple three white slots that line up with openings on the back of you case. If they are all the same, and there are empty ones, you have a PCI slot available. If the one closest to the CPU is offset a little bit compared to the rest, you also have an AGP slot available. AGP is much faster, but most any PCI card will perform insanely better than your current solution.

As for your RAM, DELL lied to you. If you can still find them (check EBAY), PC100 comes in up to 1GB sticks, but they are expensive. Also, I'd bet that PC133 RAM will work in this computer also.

If you can find somebody that has some PC133 (168 pin SDRAM) laying around, or is willing to let you test it, try it in your computer. Youu'll find out that PC100 and PC133 is basicly the same thing, and since you computer is new enough, both should work in it. In that case, I would suggest getting a single 512 Mb stick, or a pair of 256 Mb sticks, and just replacing the RAM you have with it.

FS9 really wants better hardware to run nicely. The problem is your PC is old and not very upgradeable. The Celeron processor was never much good to begin with. Even with more RAM, it's not going to do much for your framerates.

You do not have an AGP slot, so the only video card upgrade path is a PCI card -- NV5200/5700 or ATI9200. This would probably give you the most improvement, but are still lackluster cards for this game. Also, with a 145W power supply, you'd be pushing the power limit by adding a new card. A 250W PSU may be necessary.

Adding 256mb or more of RAM will make things run a bit more smoothly and you'd notice overall improvement across the board for all of Windows and apps. But, pc100/133 is still weak for gaming.

Now, the question is, would these upgrades be worth the money? I think not. You can spend $200 or more trying to get this machine running better, and still not be happy because of the limitations, or you can spend $400-$500 on a brand new low-end machine that should run far far better than anything you can do with the current one.

Weather man is right. Upgrading that computer is like buying a betamax player today (the old people here will know what that is).

Its not worth it. I doubt very much that even a memory and vid card upgrade will help too much. Seriously consider spening money on a new computer rather then throwing money away on the old one.

Maybe your video 'card' fried. LOL

Seriously, maybe your drivers are screwed up or something, but honestly, your vid card does not have what it to run fs2004 so it doesn't seem to be worth the effort to try and fix fs2004.

Seriously just use an older virsion of FS. Your computer will thank you. Then when you get the money build yourself a nice rig (see various sigs around to get a good idea of what you'll need) and then sit back and smile with your higher FPS.
