What else do you have running and what internet connection are you on?

I have a 2.0 with 1GB RAM and the same card, and I don't get frames even remotely close to that slow....I don't think it's the system that is slowing you down, per se...but something else that is ON the system.

Well, is this over stock scenery in a stock plane, with how much AI% set and what weather? I was getting around 11fps with no weather and 50% traffic on a PIII 500mhz 128SDRAM TNT2. That system was well tweaked, but c'mon, you must have bags of power there! Youve just got to make it work. That was in FS2002. I trust you have the latest drivers for GFX / Chipset etc?

I have shut everything down that was running in the background. Weather is almost alwats set to clear and when I am offline I have no AI traffic on. Also checked for viruses, spywear adn ad-wear and nothing was found. I am using Windows XP. Anything that I do notshing seasm to chage weather it be fore the worse or better. Also my internet connection is cable, about 100mbs.

There is absolutely no reason you should be getting those crappy frames....what antivirus are you using?  I think you're probably missing something that's buried in your system somewhere.

Also, when was the last time you turned your PC off?

If those are your system specs, and you're keeping your Norton up to date, I have no other suggestion than to make sure your video drivers are up to date.

Everything SHOULD be running quite well.  Look at my specs...and I get 20+ frames 99% of the time.

Out of curiosity, how big is your hard drive and how full is it?

Thats your problem! Norton is AWFUL! It kills ram something terrible. Disable it and you may see an improvement.

I have Norton (payware) and Avast (freeware). I'm not renewing the payware one after it runs out. Get Avast, its free and much better.

AVG is another good option for Anti virus.

Nortan has a hard time with ram usage. It has some small compatibility problams too. But other than that, it does do a great job.

If you're running ANYTHING in the background, you're going to experience performance hits.  If you're careful about taking care of your computer, there's nothing wrong with disabling Norton while you fly.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned removing the FS9.CFG file from it't original location and restarting the sim, thus forcing it to compile a new one, it seems to me that if moving sliders has no effect that it's recognizing the video card as a generic card and not the 128MB card it is...Wink

I don't know if this is it, but I too had the same problem until I recompiled it....Smiley

hehe, I'm not saying it will, but quite a few times I've made some changes, come back and tried to play the sim a few days later and had terrible results, yank the old one out and get me a new one! only thing I don't care for is setting everything up the way you like it again..Wink

Just copy the Fs9.cfg and move it or rename it. Then if you make it worse with some change all you need to do is put the old .cfg back in. I keep a copy of the .cfg every time I make a change that works so that I always have a fresh backup. It's saved me trouble several times when the sim crashes for some reason and corrupts the file. I've had a couple sim crashes that when I restart the sim it loads the splash screen the exits to desktop. Just delete the present .cfg and copy and rename the backup and I'm back in business with no changes or resetting.
