With 3dMark05 testing DirectX9.0c I get the following message:

iDirect3DDevice 9 Create Pixel Shader D3DERR_invalidcall.

It seems to have something to do with my NVidea-card (NVIDEA Geforce 4 MX 420).

No problems with anything, by the way: everything functions.

Anyone knows what the message means?

I dont think your card is fully DX9 compatible hence it will probably not run 3dmark 03 fully or 3dmark 05.

It should however run 3dmark 01

Trust me with that G/card you will not want to run 3dmark05!

With my 6800Ultra it really pushes it hard, people with 9800pro's were saying it was slowing up badly in places even!!

Thank you Gixer, but I do not fully understand what you say.

Do you mean by compatible that my videocard is an old one? (Well, it's possible, of course).

And why should I not want to run 3dMark05: do you mean that my card is good enough (for FS) or do you meanthat 3dMark05 is not worth the trouble?

I'm curieus!

I think what Gixer means is that 3DMark05 has more newer features than you card... Come on, its not even year 2005 yet! I have a veryyy old PC, with a Nvidia TNT2 Pro in it. I cant run 3DMark01 properly because I don't have the hardware support. I can run PcMark, because its more basic. I think the conclusion is that youshould try running 3DMark01 because you can run it all, giving you a more reliable test.

Your car may well run FS2004 fine but 3dMark05 has been designed to really test a graphics card that is fully DX9 compatible.

Yours is only DX8 compatible I am afraid (I think, I know its not DX9 compatible)

Put it this way it hits my 6800Ultra pretty hard! and like I said the 9800pro struggles with it and the 9800pro is a lot more powerful than the card you have!

Just concentrate more on getting your FS2004 running smoothly with your card  Grin

The geforce4 mx is a dx7 level card with no shader support.

3dmark05 tests at dx9 level and makes use of pixel shaders 2 and 3.

The error that is occuring is that the program is trying to create a shader, but your hardware doesn't have a clue as to what that is.
