Someone is to blame for my actions.......After reading post after post and seeing pit after pit, I became a bit jealous therefore I am about to start on my sim pit.

Actually I just started a multi year contract scraping out large aircraft.  Just finished with this one and have several more waiting to go.  Next we are starting on an MD 82 and then 2 more 737's and then one of my favorites, an ATR 42.   Just didnt have the heart to crush the cockpit. So I cut it low enough to keep the floor in it, plus it will fit in my shop building.

Wish me luck....

p.s.   just kidding on blaming you guys, because i am sure i will ask a million questions before its ready for the maiden flight

BigJoe,

Welcome to the "Homebuild Cockpits Forum" here on SimV.

We are very glad that we have corrupted you ... errr I mean, inspired you to spend all your available time, money, and sanity on this project.  You can blame us all you'd like.   Wink

The more of us there are doing this stuff.... the closer to "sane" each of us then looks to normal people  Grin .

Looks like your are in a VERY enviable position for a cockpit builder!  Most are searching for real components, parts, accurate dimensions, photos and such.  Looks like you will have a constant stream of such info available first hand to you.

PLEASE keep us updated here with photos and descriptions of your efforts.

And with that real cockpit shell as the starting point.... you are WAY ahead of most people.   Shocked  Shocked  Shocked

best,

......................john

well now I have slightly changed my mind,  I was assured today that I could have the nose off of an ATR-42 around the first of the year.  Therefore me and the bossman, who is my closest and bestest friend deceided to list it on EBAY ......

(in case you want to look)

So I shall wait till Xmas or New Years for what I really wanted anyway.....

but i will keep you posted....mean time I have and will keep,  collecting parts, pieces and panels that i can.
