Sounds to me like you've already been taking chances! I'd leave well alone if I were you. Wink

I could never understand this fascination with over-clocking processors...?
I have gone from a Pentium 486 DX100 long ago, to my present processor, AMD 2600XP, in gradual stages, up-grading as, and when, necessary.... 8)...!

Purchasing and installing a faster processor as a replacement seems to me much more reliable, and stable, than over-clocking the present processor and risk destoying it... Cry...!

...just my thoughts on the subject... Wink...!

Cheers all... Grin...!

Paul.

Tanner, its probably your ram speed / ram timings that r stopping your PC from clocking more.  You need good ram and it to be of a higher rating than your CPU's HTT.  i.e. your CPU's HTT is 200 (makinf it run at 400, PC3200)  you really want PC4000 stuff or maybe a bit higher, this will enable you to obtain a higher HTT.

I am in the same situation as you. I have good ram but its not fast enough thus I cannot clock my CPU high at the moment.  You can use memory dividers though.  Doing this I managed to get my AMD64 3500 (2210MHz standard) running @2500MHz with no crashes.  Thing is running the ram outt sync does the system no good and it ran slower, so its back to normal until I can get some new ram.

I am hoping you have changed your temp readout to read in Farenheit.  If it reached 160C then I woulda thought it would have gone into melt down.  Change you temp readout to degrees Celsius.  You ideally dont want it going over 50C if your system is air cooled.  Aim to run at 40C-45C idle.

AMD64 3500+ @ 2200MHz 400FSB&&MSI K8N Neo 2 mobo nForce3 chipset&&1gig Corsair XMS PC3200 timings @ 10.2.2.2 &&XFX 6800 Ultra @ 450/1200&&80gig HDD&&Loadsa fans!!!
