I know you guys don't like Beta drivers but I thought these were worth a mention. nVidia has leaked the 66.00 series out onto the net. I just benched them in 3dMark01 and I'm up 221 points. This is quite impressive seeing the last sets released were only giving me gains of about 10 or 20 points.

I'm up from a sad 4061 points to 4282 points. I haven't run 3dMark03 yet. I'll let the computer cool off a bit and then I'll try it later.

I ran the test at 1024x768x32 resolution with 8x AF and no AA. I set the bench program use Pure Hardware T&L. I'm using DirectX 9.0c.

As for preformance in FS2004, it does seem smoother. No word on frame boosts. I'll test those later as well.

You can get these drivers from www.guru3d.com

It did improve FPS with all sliders maxed, so the FPS went from 20FPS to around 28FPS locked.

They're Forceware drivers version 66.00. Actually any driver beyond that is pretty good. I'm using 66.81 right now.

Hello again!

I tried downloading the 66.81 driver and installing it for my FX5200.

What a mess! I would NOT advise people downloading it!
I dunno if im doing it right - but when i came to run FS2002 after re-starting the PC with the new driver added nearly all of my planes had areas where no texture showed up in the 'aircraft preview' window of the game.
These turned out to show up when actually flying the plane in FS2002 - but now some random areas of texture were missing their colours. I also noticed NO improvement in frame rates!!! Embarrassed

I tried un-installing and reverting back to a previous driver but it seemed to totally mess my system up and the PC wouldn't even recognise the card on its own!  Shocked

In the end i had to restore the whole system to its original settings from 3 days ago - before i had installed this new driver.

Aircraft work fine now - thank God!! Didn't half scare me for a while though!!! Smiley

SO DONT DOWNLOAD THEM IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING...

Any one know why this might have happened?

You have to be extremely careful with drivers.  U cannot just uninstall and then put new ones on!  You cannot just install over the top of drivers either!  It doesn't work like that.  Sounds to me like you are having conflicts but these are only due to the method you are using to install them.

Here is my method.  First download a program called Driver Cleaner3, its free and good.

Use add remove hardware to get rid of your nvidia display drivers.

Boot PC into safe mode.  When it comes up new hardware detected hit cancel.  Now run Driver Cleaner 3.  Set to remove your drivers i.e. Nvidia or ATI

Re boot PC

Again when it says new hardware detected hit cancel.

Run the new downloaded driver file.

Job done and no conflicts!

Sorry to say it but your system is probably very untidy.  I suggest you do what I have listed and start afresh with new drivers  Grin  Most people are seeing very good results from these new drivers and a boost in performance  Grin

Edit: Also some BETA drivers are updates to your current drivers.  Please read and make sure you understand what you are downloading.  I have had some where you have to go through the properties tab then hit update driver and then locate the *.inf file.  This then updates your drivers.

The 66.72s I am using were a standalone file that required I removed my old drivers first and then just run a setup file to install the new drivers.

If you are unsure about anything please do not use BETA drivers and just stick with Official ones until better are released.
