krazyj,

Thanks for the nice comments.

If you follow the entire thread series documenting the construction to this point....... you'll see the BS+T involved  Wink.  It is a multi yea- project so far....with at least a year left.  Right now I am in a mode that I don;t have time to do any work on it for a while.

Right now the pit is run by a number of computers.  Thre is of course the main flight sim machine.  Then there is one machine that runs the ND, the phidgets hardware, and Teamspeak, another runs the PFD and some sound stuff.  A third is slated for the dual displays of upper and lower EICAs.  A fourth MAY be added to simulate a stand alone FMC.....we'll see.

All the computers except the primary machine that runs FS are "junkers"..... old machines that are far less than cutting edge.

They are linked via a 100mbit hardwired LAN.

...john

hey john was thinking. it is possible that you'd make all the pages that you wrote about your cockpit into a pdf file with all the pics and wiring diagrams and all in it ??

Has anyone realised, the pictures in John's early posts such as Part 1 have the pictures missing. I guess it's because Pete deleted all the older pics...

Kevin,

Unfortunatly........not much.  Been VERY busy with "real life" stuff.   Work will resume........ just not sure how soon.   Only stuff I've done has been minor... mainly software stuff.

That is amazing. How did you get all the instruments to appear where they should - such as the airspeed indicator and the such?

I assume you are running FSX?

Tom,

Thanks.

Go thru all of the postings one by one and in order.... you will see sequentially pretty much how all of it was done by doing that.

The MIP is a wood panel facing in front of two CRT's and one LCD monitor.  The instruments are stand alone gauges (in the pictures so far they are the FreeFD gauges) running on a couple of networked computers.  The wood panel facing has cutouts that are in the correct places... and the gauge program is set up to have them appear behind the cutout holes.

Is that what you are asking?

And I am running fs2004 with a scad of payware environment and scenery add-ons.... FSX is too hard on the framerates for my hardware at this point in time.

best,

Hi
just finished reading the series over the last week or so.
Some good ideas from this thanks very much - also inspired me to join up here.

I am about 9 months into my own simpit - a beech baron full cockpit - and when I figure out about uploading pictures to this site I will start my own thread as well.

cheers and keep up the good fight. Smiley
