Go-Around Problem (Read 551 times)

I recently added Andrew Wai's beautiful P-51D Mustang to my AI traffic.

However, it does not seem to want to land.
It lines up for final approach, but ends up retracting it's gear just over the threshold of the runway and goes around; again and again.

Sad

Steve,

From what I've been able to find here at SimV, it appears that a majority of the CFS aircraft were designed in FSDS, which means that they are probably not suitable for use as AI traffic.

What you described with the P-51 is behavior typical of an FSDS aircraft.  If possible, try using GMAX-designed aircraft for your AI flight plans.  However, the choices might be limited regarding CFS aircraft......... Sad

Take a look in Freeware Screenshots at my posting 'Wanna swap your Skyhawk...'

Remember, AI fde files often have nothing to to with 'real life'. The P51D fde is totally unstable for a start - just to fly manually. It leaves a lot to be desired - and that's an understatement. Even taxying in FS2002 it ground loops almost uncontrollably all the time and as a weapons platform ... well. If they'd had this in the war we'd have lost more pilots during training than to enemy action!

Anyway, with mods to the fde it can work OK as AI

Check out my recent post in the FS2002 forum.

Now have an AI fde for the Mustang for download on my website. It's looks really great taking off and landing
