Desert Island Discs is a radio program broadcast by the BBC - where well known individuals choose 8 songs they'd take with them if they were stuck on a desert island - & why.

If you were to choose 8 - which would they be & why?

Mine:

I Wish (Stevie Wonder): Fantastic vibrant & typically original track with a unique complex structure that NO ONE can replicate. Heard it as a teenager & have heard it 1000's of times since. Never get tired of it Smiley I'd never be low with music like this  Grin

Rhapsody in Blue (George Gershwin): Always loved it since watching Woody Allen's 'Manhatten'. Bought The full Rhapsody in Blue Concerto & couldn't believe how wonderful & soul revealing it is. Another genious.

Sign 'o the Times (Prince): Prince has written so many classics - I  couldn't be without him. Great positive music.

Strip Me Naked (John Lee Hooker): Just love great southern blues. Has an ingenious way of seeing humour in hard times/bad luck & turns it round to being a positive thing. Very useful if stuck on a desert island  Grin

The Way it Is (Bruce Hornsby) - Just love Bruce Hornsby's piano mastery & another track I have heard 1000's of times & never tire of it

I Ain't Mad At Cha (Tupac Shakur) - 2 Pac has become my favourite Rapper over the past few years - tragic that he was shot - he had so far to go. A great tallent. I love it.

Nutcracker Suite - Chinese Dance (Tchaikovsky) I'd feel like some 'classical music' every now & then & this one wouldn't disappoint Smiley

Hand in My Pocket (Alanis Morissette) - I just love that album & it would add an essential female element in my loneliness Smiley

Just a snippit of my musical tastes - it has to be  Grin

All The Day and All The Night - The Kinks, love this song
Tutti Frutti - Little Richard, a rock and roll classic.
It Can't Rain All The Time - Jane Siberry, this is a v.personal song for me.
Fly Away - Lenny Kravitz, just brilliant this song.
Radio Gaga - Queen, I think this is just one of their greatest songs, and they were one of the greatest bands ever!
Jumpin' Jack Flash - The Rolling Stones, great song, whenever I hear it I think of Whoopi Goldberg doing her Mick Jagger impersonation and I start laughing.
The House of The Rising Sun - The Animals, I don't know why I just like this song.
I Hope You Die - The Bloodhound Gang, superb lyrics, really makes me laugh.

1.  Superstition - Stevie Wonder

Probably my favorite R/B song ever...

2.  While My Guitar Gently Weeps - The Beatles

One of the top five favorite Beatles songs...

3.  The Power of Love - Celine Dion

Because this one reminds me of my wife...

4.  Le Nozze de Figeroa - Mozart

The most prefect piece of music ever written (See the Classical thread)...

5.  Two out of Three ain't Bad - Meatloaf

Because Meatloaf is maybe one of the greatest writers ever...

6.  Little Suzi - Tesla

     Because it's nice and lite...

7.  Share the Land - The Guess Who

To remind me to keep my pristine desert island as close to nature as I can...

8.  Bell Bottom Blues - Eric Clapton

Because you have to have Clapton on every music list, hands down...
