Can you tell me how Eric Clapton got the nickname 'Slowhand'

and...

Can you tell me the circumstances surrounding the writing of the song 'Layla?'

I believe the nickname was a result of crowd reactions to Eric changing guitar strings on stage during gigs, and the song "Layla" was related to the romance thing between Clapton and George Harrison's wife, who later became Claptons wife.

I'll give it a shot, I think I can remember most of them:
Hetfield, Ulrich, Mustaine, Mcgoveny, Burton, Hammet, Newstead, Trujillo

I think that's all, they sort of have the "Spinal Tap" syndrome with bass players don't they?  Grin

This one is kind of tough considering the way guitarist's for this band tend to come and go and then come back again.
I know Hillel Slovak was there a couple of times before he OD'd, and John Fruciante has been in and out and I think he is back in now since Navarro is back with Jane's,
and there was Slovaks original replacement whose name I can't remember, (I don't think he was in too long) and the same goes for Frusciante's replacement before Navarro came on board.
Since the question only asked for a number and not names and I don't feel like digging out CD's to find those names, I am going to say that the Red Hot Chilli Peppers have had 5 different guitar players.
And I think there were a couple of drummers before Chad Smith too.

Metallica have gone through more guitar players than bass if you think about it. Its a shame Cliff was crushed by a bus Sad but things happen.

Oh well, I was guessing off the top of my head, I don't really follow Metallica as close as I used to, I discovered them during the "Ride the Lightning" days, and although I still like some of their newer music, I really prefer the older stuff.

I was fortunate enough to see them on the "Master of Puppets" tour, opening for Ozzy while Cliff was still alive, they were the heaviest band I had ever seen live up to that point.
