Did you folks know that the CFS1 Hawker Hurricane can fly on autopilot? Great for those long hauls and NAV runs/Cross Country...when you are bored just shooting at eachother. It is a very easy fix/upgrade, although the default Hurri-Panel does'nt seem to quite handle it. The Panel I used was one of Simviation's downloads, and the proggy I used to customize it was CFG.Edit also available in simviation's pages. Thanks very much to the gents who created these programs originally.

And you really wanna go beserk like I have (you can put gauges from the concorde in there and get a true mordern day feel). Anyhow all one needs to do is, 1.Get the Hawker-Tempest Panel from Simviation. 2. Get the CFG.Edid program also available in Simviation and use it to put the Cessna's Bendix-King AP Radio gau.file and the Cessna's 182 Directional Gyro.gau file somewhere in the Tempest panel (this can be achieved by moving and resizing the other gauges a tad), and save and install your new "custom" panel to the Hawker Hurricane MkI. (Remember to save your original panel file in a different folder in case anything goes wrong, first". That's it. Now go take her up for a test flight, and if you did it right, and it wasn't a corrupt download etc (happens sometimes, although rare) you should be able to engage autopilot and sit back and read a book or something, while your Hurricane flies herself. - To the guys n gals out there not familar with the Cessna gauges, the directional Gyro is primarily used to set the Heading of your aircraft, and the Autopilot (Bendix) is used to hold that heading. Enjoy! Grin

great job for finding an autopilot for the hurricane.....

however..... why would anyone want an autopilot for CFS anyway????  i mean... if you never try to shoot anyone, but fly autopilot.... GET FS series.... and by the way, may i remind you that there IS a warp function....

anyway good job!
have fun with it....  Smiley

As I remember, the FS98-style autopilot can be used on any aircraft in CFS1. It has certain limitations as some functions do not work in CFS. If you want them there's plenty of 3rd party panels posted in the CFS1 Panels section. http://www.simviation.com/cfs1panels7.htm
These used to be popular with squads flying bombers online.

This message is in reply to Quack's reply.

"Err well I figured that someone out there can use the info, and by the way CFS1 aircrafts can be flown in FS2000 where there is no CFO utility.(As far as I know). And also to be noted, that only certain CFS1 aircrafts accepts the autopilot feature. (Haggar being correct). The British Aircrafts and the German Aircrafts are OK with the AP, whereas the US Aircrafts don't seem to preffer the AP. (Prolly cause us US folks never liked things easy to begin with, and a non-AP jaunt without AP and other such avionics to help with direction finding proved quite a challenge). Also noted, the HUD gauge from the F15 can be used in the panel config of the Hurri etc, in FS2000 so you have something other than an empty circle to look into while flying the Hurricane in FS2K. FS2000 doesn't need it. Cfo_weather activates the hidden FS98 features  in CFS1.

I didn't realise this as I never use A/P. I think you could fix it by activating the A/P entries in the AIR file.
