I was playing with the awesome Mirage Rafael, the NZHMS Waikato carrier addon and Arrestor Cables.

...  ...
I had to taxi to position first, then the blast doors went up. Almost ready.

...  ...
The rescue helo is always close by in launch and recovery times. Luckily I dont need their services and the launch is successful.

...  ...
Just a quick circuit to get back in the marshal stack for recovery.

...  ...
On glidescope, all looks good.

...  ...
I end up coming in too hot and the nose gear collapses. More practice is needed obviously.

Good shots my man! Smiley
May I ask where you got a carrier with static planes on it, though?  My ARRCAB ones don't have any... Roll Eyes

Nice shots

Would it be possible to request that you make them a little larger so that us really old people could see a little more.

My eyes just aren't what they used to be.

Ramsa, click on the pics to get a fullsize image  Wink

Nice shots grover, the Rafale is the hardest plane to get on the deck I find. Easiest is the Seafire!
And yeah, how did you get the add-ons looking so good, mine all live inside big white squares.

The carrier is the Wakato V3 which is situated in the Hauraki Gulf just off Auckland New Zealand.

Ozzy,  I dont know what causes the white squares, but it may be that I have downloaded the Nova texture files, as well as the Airport 2.10 files. All of which are scenery textrue files, although the Waikato addon comes with a bunch of textures anyway. Also the Arrestor Cable carriers now have a full package with textures.

Ramsa, sorry about the small screens. I thumbnail my screens so they load faster and people can choose the ones they want to look at.

Great pictures Grover, that was one nasty landing. Were the crew flinging themselves overboard in an attempt to get away? Mine usualy do, although at worst I just miss the cables and apply full power asap  Wink

Btw, try using the catapult with ultralights and commercial jets, the B 747 is no problem although you may have to do a bit if shuffling on deck to get in position, anything with a trycicle undercarriage is fair game.

Just don't forget to modify the catapult settings for launching! Otherwise you'll be needing that chopper Shocked

Grover
Great pics, awesome. I don't do alot of carrier flying (mostly the heavies), but it looks really cool. After viewing your pics, I really want to try this out. I do have a few fighter jets and I am going to get the Carrier you linked to.
My questions:
1) Where is the carrier defaulted to in FS2002?
2) Do you "place" it some where?, or is it located like "off the coast of ... in ...."?
3) Does that ship come with the arrestor cables and do you need a certain aircraft to use the cables?
4) Where do u get that Mirage?

Thanks, look foward to "Doing some carrier ops!"

OK, where to start.

Firstly, the rafael can be found at this site. Also check out the MIrage 4000. Its also an excellent plane.

The Arrestor Cables package has actually be sold to Abacus for thier Flight Deck 3 addon, so the author isnt distributing the package any more. One of the latest versions however is right here at simviation
It includes flight which place you on the carriers.

Make sure you get the addon carriers too.

The original Arrestor cables site is here and also its worth looking at the links section

you can use any aircraft with arrestor cables, except tail draggers and helos. Try landing a 747 on the carrier Cheesy
The package also comes with a land runway addon for practicing.

It takes a bit to get going, but is easy enough if you read the instructions.
