FSNav - missing runways (Read 948 times)

Got a problem with FSNav that has stumped even the author.

The runways in some London airfields have vanished but the surrounding areas and countries seem ok.

Even Helge, the author, is stumped. Any of you seen this and have a fix?

Hopefully there should be a screen dump with this post but I'm about as good at technical stuff as I am a typnig.

Hi Speed...!
I've looked at your pic.
Which ones are missing...?
(The GB scenery is so naff that I only fly in California with FS Navigator)... Grin

It's nice to know that there is at least someone else, apart from me, on the Forum who is a FS Navigator enthusiast... Wink...!
..I have tried spreading the word, but no-one is listening... Cry...!
LOL...!

Cheers mate...

Hi Fozzer - I'm a FSNavophile. Even wrote to Microsoft to suggest they build it into FS!
The screen dump's not that clear but if you look closely at Luton and Biggin Hill you can see a black line connecting the ILS cones - that's the runway. But if you look at Denham or Heathrow there's nothing. There should be lots of runways and I'd expect someo grey stuff to show up at Heathrow to highlight the aprons and taxi ways but there's nothing there but parking ellipses. Wierd huh! I'm stumped!!

Hi Ian...!

This is a zoom-in to Heathrow using my FS Navigator...
I have switched off the NDB and ILS buttons to make it clearer..

...

Is your zoom-in view the same..?

Cheers mate...

This is just a wild guess, but you may have a corrupt .bgl file.

I checked out this FSNavigator ya'll (Sorry about the Texas twang.  It affects my typing as well.) been discussing.  The website didnt elaborate much on it's features.   Is it some type of flight planner or is it something else?

I also noted the SID/STAR on the site screenshots.  I was investigating into this for LD tran-oceanic flight.  How useful is this feature on FSN?  You might have a fellow convert if it something I been looking for.

Thanks.

Hi Crater...!
..I think we can tolerate the Texas twang, providing you restrict the lynching's to once a fortnight... Grin....!
LOL...!

FS Navigator...
Yep, you can file a flight plan on it.
..but that's too much for my feeble brain to cope with..
..so, I just use it to search for distant airfields, zoom in, and use it as a moving map display, containing  VOR's NDB's ATIS airport/navigation frequencies, etc. which I can dial into my radios.
You can do a similar thing in the FS 2002, but I find much more INSTANT detail is displayed in FS Navigator at the touch of one key, (F9).
The ability to zoom in to show great detail of each airport is an asset as the above pics show..

I purchased the program when FS 2000 first came out, and I have used it continuously ever since, transferring it to FS 2002.

The pic below illustrates the mass of air fields dotted around the world, each red dot is an airfield, so if you wish to go to a particular area but dont know the name, or ID of the airfield, all you have to do is drag around a small area with the mouse which will then be displayed full size on your screen, showing all the airports in that area, you can then just type the airport name or ID into your "go to airport" menu, and off you go...!
...easy, peasy...!

P.S. ...when is the next lynching due...?
LOL...!

Thank you Pual.

I noticed it has a SID/Star editor and you can upload/dwnld from a dedicated server.  This looks promising.

I dont recalled much hanging lately.  That's Mississippi.  Some of them still run around in white sheets form what I heard. hehe.  Texas's known for it cowboys and cattles.  I wouldnt middle trading some bar-b-que for some origingal Young's Oatmeal Stout.  That beats the diluted piss they call beer here.  ;)
