Embarrassed What is the best graphics card for CFS3, some
say GEFofce 4 Ti 4600 8X and others say ATI 9700 Pro
  128 Mb.

Yet  reading some of the posts here and other links
both cards seem to have problems with drivers and
I want get a new card soon.

This is my first post and I hope this is not a dumb
    question, but I am confused.

     Help please,  Thanks Cecil

It' not a dumb question at all with the variety of cards out there today. I personally would be satisfied with either of the cards you mentioned and would probably lean toward the 9700 pro based on reviews I've read for both cards. I can't wait to see some reviews on the new Nvidia FX, if it performs as advertised I' ll wait until I can afford it to upgrade.

Undecided Iwent to the nvidia site to get some info on the new
fx cards and I have heard that the msrp for the card
  is about $600. OUCH!!!!!!

I would sure like to have one but the price right now
makes it a forbidden  item, maybe next year when the
   price drops a bit.

Check around at Price Watch etc. I think you will find they are around 340.00 to 350.00.

If you are looking at new cards then the ATI 9700 or the GForce FX are the best bets. Both are DX 9 capable cards...this could be important to get all the eye candy in future releases.

As with all computer parts, its the whole bang for the buck question. I personally am running a GF4 ti4600 by Leadtek, which I am quite happy with, but im sure the 9700 is a very good card also. I am also running DX9 without any trouble, and generally not too much trouble with CFS3, although the patch really is crap, with not much help there. Ramsa's tweaks seem to be the all around best way to get the max effects out of almost any video card.

Many cards can run under DX 9...but only two (the 9700 and the GF FX) are built to make use of all DX 9 features.

I just wonder if CFS3 will recognize the new geforce fx
and its drivers, if so then that's the one I will wait
for to go with my pent 2.6 ghz , 640 mb rambus mem.

That should make CFS3 fly as smooth as a baby's
  bottom.   Smiley Wink Cheesy Grin

You don't have to worry about CFS3 recognizing the Radeon 9700 or the GeForce FX. If you look in the main CFS3 folder at cfs3configdatabase.txt, about 1/3 of the way down the file you will see two cards listed under DX9 They are the Radeon 9700 and the NV30+ which is the GeForce FX. If you find a good price on the FX let everybody know in a post, I would love to have one!

So far the best price for the geforce fx is $399 for a pre
order, they dont say when to expect delivery but it cant
be to long now, so maybe I will bite the bullet and pre
order mine soon or if I hear or see something better will
let all know.

If someone else sees a better price please let us all know.

When it comes to cards for CFS3, any Nvidia card is good as long as it has 64MB of ram and is GForce2 MX400 and up. I recomend loads of system ram as well.
