Try Kissimmee airport (KISM) on the W.coast of the USA, apparently it always gives a wet start, failing that I can send you some files for wet starts.

Grin Grin GrinI use amphibs/floats a lot but have downloaded a number of floatplane bases avail here on SimV.  Pretty awesome scenery too.  But if youre having trouble finding water takeoffs (there is one in New York City (cant remember the name of it but its there/I can find it and let you know) why not take off from runway and fly to a dock, there's lots in most scenery.  I love sittin in the water lookin at the scenery from offshore.
Splash Grin Grin Grin  That new jet amphib just came out, a real fun plane to fly especially water landing  lol Grin  Check those float plane bases   very nice!!

There is one next to or close to the Port of Miami.

Name: Miami (X44)

Runways: SE and NW.

If you take-off facing NW, then you'll notice that there is a gap between a set of buildings wide enough for you to fly through.

Taking-off is one thing, but landing is a different story. You can't see the runway since it's only water. You'll have to rely on GPS to find it and the there is no ILS (but there is a VOR station nearby).

Go to "Library", click "view help topics", "flying a floatplane", "water runways". There's probably 100 or more water takeoff locations listed.

Look for the runway that have bearings like NW or SW or something like that, as runway names, about 5 times out of 10 they're are spots on water, I've only been to a few of them so I don't know if that's what it's like.

Give it a try.

Welcome to the forums Wink

Here's a tutorial on installing aircraft into the simulator:
http://www.simviation.com/acinstall.htm

I don't know of any amphibius Dehaviland 8s for download, but there are a couple new DHC-6 Twin Otter Amphibian packages here: http://www.simviation.com/fs2002props39.htm
