Title: Administrator rights

FSX wont let me add new scenery to the file. It says I must be an administrator. I am the administrator so what do I do to allow it to let me add scenery.

Have you tried to "right click" on the installer? A menu will pop up and you should see "run as Administrator". Left Click on that. You should be good to go. If not, "right click" the installer, once again a menu will pop up, at the bottom you will see "properties". Left click that, it will open a window, at the top you should see several menus. Left click "compatibility". In this window look at the 3rd box, it should say "Privilege Level", Check (tick) "Run this as Administrator. Hope this helps. Also go back to "General" and make sure the program is not "Blocked". That will be at the very bottom of the window.

Did you buy the computer new or used? Was it bought for you?

Here is a simple way to check if your account is really a full admin account; go to the control panel and click on "User Accounts". In windows 7 click on "Manage another account", and then click on "Create a new account". Make up a name and click on the "Administrator" radio button.

If ANY of that is grayed out or missing then your account IS NOT the administrator account.

Some would say just check YOUR account and see if you're an administrator. But I install security software from time to time, and I can tell you that there is a BIG difference in being a local admin and having FULL admin rights. On my company computer I can install just about any program, but I can’t create an administrator user account.

ALL IT departments lie. But that’s only from my own personal experience. >:(

The "we" in this case are the simviation members. Some sites let you award points to show appreciation.

Your post gave me some useful information that I didn't know.
