Title: Problem
Post by Flying Trucker on Feb 15th, 2013 at 1:29pm
Good afternoon all... :)

FSX & Windows 7
REX2+Essential & Overdrive
   -loads OK
Start FSX from REX "Fly Now"

FSX starts
Screen comes up saying Theme can't be loaded?

User Account Control Settings
-set 3rd up from bottom

Have lowered the User Account Control Settings to the bottom and restarted the computer.

Still get the Error saying Theme does not exist or can not be loaded.

Now the last two (2) times with the User Account Control Setting 3rd Up from bottom FSX shuts down and I get a Microsoft Screen saying they are checking for Errors.

No Errors found or not enough information.

I am not running any other games on this computer and there are no other programs running when FSX is on.
I even turn OFF the Printer.

Not sure where the problem is as REX Loads OK and so does FSX until I start to fly the simulated flight.

My System
-all Microsoft Updates done daily
-Drivers up to date
-Security and Virus Scans done every day or two
Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) SP1
Processor
-3.30 gigahertz Intel Core
-256 Kilobyte primary memory cache
-1024 Kilobyte secondary memory cache
-6144 Kilobyte tertiary memory cache
-64.bit ready
-Multi-Core (4 total)
-Not hyper-threaded

Drives
3320.52 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity
3174.87 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space

8174 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 Display adapter

Payware
-REX2
-Flight 1...Ultimate TerrainX...Canada
            ...Ground EnvironmentX...USA, Canada, Alaska
-ORBX...Pacific Fjords
          ...Pacific Northwest
Various Payware Aircraft

I run FSWC...Flight Simulator Water Configurator

I always start REX First...

I am not sure it is a good idea to turn the User Account Control Settings to the lowest settings or the bottom of the slider.

Does this not put the computer at risk when REX Weather Loads?

When ever I change the User Account Control Settings I restart the computer so that can't be the problem.

FSX seems to work fine without REX... :-X

sysinternals process monitor will help a lot in this... then you can see which file it tries to load

"FSX seems to work fine without REX.."

You got a problem there, and i think you know it!

Clear Rex and try again. But what i've seen in your uploads without Rex, surely is amazing ;)

just from what i've read on here and a few other forums from other flight sim users, was enough to scare me away from the program, and not bother with it.

actually if ya invest in a good graphics video card, and play with the Default Settings time wise, sunset / dawn/ etc. you'll get some fairly amazing shots,, just with default,, with a really good graphics card !!

I have installed some of the Freeware stuff from Orbx,, to enhance the grass, sky, sun, etc.. other than a few Payware Airports, and Freeware airports,, My FSX Gold/ Acceleration is simple,,

the simpler it is the more I like it,,, I learned if I start adding all the Supposed programs into the sim, some work just fine on their own,,  with no other programs to choke on'.....

others don't mingle/ mix well with other programs,,, for whatever reason

and I HATE problems !!!

I WANNA FLY,,,,,, NOT FIX & TINKER !!!  :o

Bout like trying to shove a box of crackers in your mouth,, drink milk, and slug a big Mug of Whisky down all at the same time - something ain't gonna Mix well,, and even IF it does go down,,,, somethings gonna find it way back up,, and in a Big Mess !!!

Guess what - you'll get to fix and clean up the mess !  :'( :'(

Remember to actually FLY sometime,,, thats why we have these thingy's called Flight Simulators !!

I'm keepin mine Simple - " K.I.S.S."  / Keep It Simple Stupid !!

Start mixin too many of the programs all together even tho they Might say their for whatever sim,,, doesn't mean they'll really work well in Conjuction with another program or Programs  :o :o :o

Milk & Beer & Whisky , just don't go all that good together,,,, excuse me, while I go throw up  :-/ ;D

Jet.
