Title: fs9 on windows 8
Post by ctanner on Jan 17th, 2013 at 10:46pm
has anyone had problems with fs9 on windows8, just loaded on new computer and when selecting A/C their picture does not appear on the screen, loaded it twice to be sure and got same results, works well on PC with windows 7 but selection picture is blank, aside from that when fly now is hit it works OK....

I use Windows 8 64bit and it's the same for me. I just keep it in windowed mode until I am ready to hit the fly now button. Only then do I go back to full screen. Of course then the box goes black. Hopefully, Microsoft (the more doubtful of the two) or someone will make a patch for this issue. But as you said, other than that, it works great. Kind regards, Jeremy

Windows 8 is the OS from hell. Don't recommend it unless you have a tablet, compatible phone or just love headaches. Go back to Windows 7 if you can, much better in the long run.

Thanks for the info, have everything working OK on PC with windows 7 but new laptop comes with windows 8, wanted fs9 to be portable but as stated, windows 8 is a pain in the butt, especially for us "senior citizens".
Latest win 8 pain is that anytime I try to make changes with TT tools I get "access denied", wonder how much Future Shop would screw me for if I take the Laptop back and ask them to reload 7 or XP.
Gotta love the designers at microsucks, thanks again

I am running both FS9 and FSX on a new Win8 64-bit, with no problems (other than the black screen on FS9 aircraft selection, which is minor for me).   Oh yes, a touchscreen DOES make things more fun ...
