Many thousands of cars that were damaged by the storm are on the auction block. Many of them will be crushed for scrap.

That's a lot of cars. And to think there a probably a few very nice cars in there that may have no issues at all...

The thing is though, if the interior gets soaked with water, they get a horrible musty smell that's tough to get rid of. Years ago I used a garden hose to wash up the carpet in the back of a cargo van (dumb idea #782) and after a couple days it started smelling so bad I had to open the windows to drive it. :P

The problem being, it was just water that you used. There were most probably billions of microbes in that carpet that had been waiting years for a nice drink to cultivate mutate and multiply ;D Had you removed the carpet and shampooed it, then it would have smelt like new........... Matt |
